Floatation...
This has been used in whitewater boats and life jackets for years. It all above the waterline and none in the bilge. I'm also enclosing it and there is some air gap behind it. It "should" stay "dry".

Planking in the rear cockpit. The lower opening gives access to unbolt the fuel tank and will be under the seat. The black hose is from a bilge pump under the sole (floor). The upper opening will have a shelf and is the access to the fuel shutoff valve.

Steering with clamp block and support tube. I'll have to add a hatch to maintain access. The black hose in the foreground is the tank vent.
