KIDYAK BILL OF MATERIALS
LUMBER: Pine, mahogany, spruce, or most any type of
clear wood can be used. Lumber is "four quarter"
lumberyard stock, usually finished to 3/4" net
thickness. Material called out as 1/2" is usually ripped
from "four quarter" lumber.
PLYWOOD: All plywood must be intended for marine or
exterior use. Interior grades are NOT acceptable. The
prototype used a "door skin" plywod with luan
veneers that is somewhat less than 1/8" in thickness. It
is important that the door skins have exterior glue, which is
something that is sometimes difficult to acertain. Door skins
are inexpensive, however, if your budget can handle it,
1/8", 3mm, 4mm, or 1/4" imported or domestic
plywood of better grades are preferable.
MATERIAL ABBREVIATIONS: D.F. = Douglas-fir; PW = plywood;
Ext. = exterior; Mar. = marine; Mahog. = mahogany; SP -
spruce (Sitka)
