Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

Yes. I am building a Tahoe which is a Hankinson design and it shows the angle iron on that frame but I also had to take some off the next frame for the sump and did the same there.

Re: Key Largo Build in Charleston

Hi,
I assume you may find you have to cut away some of that frame to have clearance for your prop shaft or sump of the motor. I did on the Tahoe. The angle iron is to reinforce that cut down frame.

Re: Tahoe 23

Thanks Jamie. Realistically I will be happy if it is finished by the end of next year. I have the trailer to make as well. It would be easier to buy one. I really like the one you have but it may be a case of dollars. By May I hope to basicly be onto the deck and cockpit fit outs. Depends on how bus...

Re: Tahoe 23

Well some progress made. A bit slow as I am budgeting and buying a bit each month. This really is the most expensive part of the build. The rudder and tiller are in. I have bought the streeing cable and teleflex steering gear. Still to buy a steering wheel. Have made a mock up of the dash board and ...

Re: New member from Brisbane, Australia

Hi Neil The Glen-L "Boatbuilding with plywood" is a must. Simple to read and step by step. Then think what you really want from a boat. Once you start the people on the forum are great and will help you with any problems you have. I'm building a Tahoe 23. If you are ever up Gympie way feel free to c...

Jamie
Glad to hear you and the family are OK. Not an experienced boater so could someone explain the neutral safety switch to me?

Re: Aussie Belle

Hi Jamie
Curious as to what thickness you use for your back seat base.

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Tom, Undecided about the bilge blowers. Probably mount the blowers in the engine compartment and run ducting down the sides to the aft section. As far as cowls probably 2 forward and 2 back on the engine compartment with 2 back facing on the stern but open to advice. Being held up by the tiller arm....

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Thanks Bill. Yes I have a site from Butch and they will sell single tips. Tom, being on the side I won't worry about a false tip on the other side. Logic being you will only see one side at a time. If I was going to run them out the back I would have split them, so as to have some symmetry. A bit Ob...

Re: Tom's Tahoe

Hi Tom
Great exhaust system. So clean and simple. I'll be running my exhaust out the side but further back and only on one side as I am running a catalytic motor with only one exhaust outlet. It just seemed simpler than splitting the system. Could you post the site for your exhaust tips please.

Hugo
Looking good. I love this part of the build when you first see the true lines of the boat. It's like a skeleton. I think it is the repetition of the frames and battens. Yes the chine is always a problem child!
