Re: Chine question on squirt!

I have a very understanding wife MOST of the time so I get to work on it a lot. I also get off work before she does 3 days a week so I have time while she isn't home to work on it. I would guess that the process will come to quite the slow down when I hit the fairing process as it will suck. Having ...

Re: Chine question on squirt!

It does dish in ever so slightly. I am going to laminate the rest up and see how it turns out and if I need to shim it. Also I think the dish is created by the way I have it attached at the moment. I and going to fix that too.

Re: Chine question on squirt!

Ok I decided to laminate the chines in three layers just because I was getting mad fighting them I could have probably done it in two layers but I figured what screw with it. Does it look right? http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n515/oldschoolrotary1/Chines4.jpg http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums...

Chine question on squirt!

Ok so I have read over some of the topics from the past covering this but I have a few questions still yet. First off how high roughly should the chine be from the breast hook. All the pictures I have seen show it to be about 6-7" (From what I can tell at least) above the breast hook. Secondly the b...

Re: The start of my jet powered squirt!

Battens are down keel is almost done. Still gotta install the shim I made for the stem and keel mating. I wanted to see it with the chines halfway on so I just have them clamped up. Going to be stem bending these next week I hope then it will be on to the sheers.

I am gaining a wealth of knowledge through this build that I can and will apply to my next build. Should make the next build a lot easier thats for sure.

Re: Squirt keel bulge

Yeah I looked at the book and saw it but it is vague at best on this topic. I think the shim is probably the best idea.

Re: Squirt keel bulge

I will be attaching my keel tomorrow on my squirt. Am I to understand that I am just supposed to lay it flat and snug it with the carriage bolts then fair it off later? I am assuming I will need to make a shim here so its not just hanging out there with only carriage bolts holding it down.

Re: The start of my jet powered squirt!

Well I had the day off today with no kids or wife home so I got a lot done. I had all the frames mounted to the jig and came out this morning to mount the stem and the keel and started looking at it and it just didnt look right. I took some measurements and sure enough the frame jig had warped prett...

Squit transom setup question!

I have the frames all cut out and ready to go but I was looking at the patters for the actual transom and it has a 1/4 in space between the bottom of the frame and where the plywood transom begins. I thought at first this was for the bottom planking but the bottom planking will rest on the frames an...
