Holiday Greetings
Folks. I received a wonderful call from Mr. Hot Rod on Christmas Day. We had a long chat to catch up personally. He gently chided me for my recent absence from this forum, so I committed to him that I would drop in to say "Hi". For those of you who are my Facebook friends, there will not be much new...

Re: Monaco
Hi Peter. If your concern is legroom, that is more of a "front-back" issue than an "up and down" issue. Your legs are pretty much horizontal when you are driving the boat. (much like driving a sports car) There is plenty of room under the deck for your legs. If your concern is about water coming ove...

Re: Cracker Box - Set-up Level
Hi Michael.
I have not built the crackerbox, so it is hard to understand your question.
Maybe posting a picture or diagram might help.
Have you tried connecting specifically with other crackerbox builders?

Re: How Much Do I Need to Sand?
As Andy says... if you encapsulate right over the epoxy, it will all blend in. But if you want to stain, you probably need to get all that surface epoxy off so that the stain can absorb evenly. One thing that you can always do when you are wondering how finishes will react is to create a small "test...

Re: Inboard Winterizing Checklist
While you guys are all at G7, this is what I'll be doing today.... 1) add fuel stabilizer to tank, run engine for five minutes 2) Change the oil 3) shut the seacock and empty the sea strainer. 4) drain all water from the engine drain plugs (water jacket, manifolds) 5) run the engine while filling wi...

Re: Limbers on a monaco / riveria
Here is what I would do... Make these limbers one of the last things you do before you finish the cockpit. At that point, the center of balance will not move very much. Float the boat, and toss a bucket of water in the bilge. Where do the puddles go? That will tell you the lowest point on each batte...

Re: Limbers on a monaco / riveria
Hi Jenko.
Are you building a Riv/Monaco?
You will need athwartship limbers at the low point.
On my Monaco, the low point (both when floating at rest, and when on the trailer) is in front of the engine.
Bruce.

Re: Help debugging temperature gauge
Awesome!
Thanks for the info and the link.
I'll try again next time I'm at the boat.
I'll use the Teleflex debugging guide, and I will compare the specs for the gauge to the specs of the sender I bought. (maybe the sender I replaced was not the problem)
Stay tuned.

Re: Limbers on a monaco / riveria
Good question. At a minimum, you want the limbers at the lowest point when the boat is at rest. I shortened the Monaco design by 10%. My "lowest point" is under the driver's feet. On longer boats, I have heard it to be as far back as the front of the engine. When I first put in one set of athwartshi...

Help debugging temperature gauge
My temperature gauge has not been working this summer. I just bought a new sender, thinking that might have been my problem. Here is what I am seeing with the new sender: Ignition on, cold engine ... Gauge snaps to "off the chart" hot Ignition on, lead disconnected ... Gauge snaps back to "off the c...
