Re: Biss's Malahini Build

If you need cheap neoprene get a pack of those anti-fatigue floor mats. Easy to cut to size.

Re: Muskoka Mystery Boat/New member

It doesn't look like any of the Glen-l boats to me. I don't think any of his have that much crown in the deck. Post a picture of the shaft. I can't help you but someone will be able to. Cool looking boat!

Re: Building a La Paz 24

I don't think it's super critical with Sapele. The grain is highly interlocked so if you hand plane it the plane needs to be absolutely razor sharp to prevent tearout. The sapele I bought I stored for over a year (not climate controlled) before I used most of it. It stayed nice and flat. I didn't us...

Re: New member

I've been pondering building a "Husky" camper shell with fold-down bunks. I don't really have room to build or store it right now though. It would be nice to be able to hook up the boat and go camping somewhere without having to pitch a tent. A tiny window air conditioner would even be a possibility...

Re: Seattle Barrelback progress

There's nothing "wrong" with a good no-feedback cable steering system. I'm really happy with the SeaStar (teleflex) system on my boat. The way no-feedback works on a cable system is by locking out the steering loads when you are not actively moving the wheel. You feel the steering loads as you turn ...

Isn't line-x super bumpy? I don't think I'd want that on my hull. It would probably be fantastic for a cockpit sole or decking.

Re: Crackerbox Build

I honestly don't think I've ever seen hot dipped galvanized wood screws. At least not the #8s and #10s common in a boat this size. You could save some using galvanized for the carriage bolts but even using Si Bronze hardware throughout will be a relatively small percentage of the total build. The cr...

Hope you keep in touch here on the forum. I'm sure we would all love to see more updates. The deck is going to look fantastic.

If you make sure to oil the teak regularly will there really be that much maintenance?
