Re: Building The Vera Cruise

That cabinet is going to be a real showpiece. And I can tell that anchor well is not an easy place to fiberglass.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

I have one of the common fluke or danforth style anchors. Pulling it up and trying to clean off the mud I jerked it upwards not really thinking about it. It jumped out of the water and the sharp points went right into the side of the hull. No damage that I can find. Not even a scratch in the WR-LPU....

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

I don't think you'll ever build up enough varnish to smooth that out. That grain looks incredible by the way!

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

That will provide great protection from that anchor bouncing around up there. I wonder if some kind of rubber mat would help. Those cheap anti-fatigue floor mats that are made from neoprene could work maybe.

Looks great, Matt. Now's the time to get that bottom right. Worth the extra effort.

Feel better soon, Carl! The deck framing is a big milestone. The to-do list is getting shorter.

Re: Michael's ZIP

The Geronimo has chine blocking at the stem. It made it super simple to attach the chines without having to have a perfect fit on the stem. Also, no guesswork on the placement of the chines. However, I still ended up having to shim the chines up forward to get the fairing to work. I suspect there ar...

Re: UK Zip Build

The plywood hull planking will stabilize that area, especially with that tumblehome. A little extra thickness on that frame member won't hurt anything though. I like your method of finding that frame profile!

Even in neutral it's slinging a bunch of fluid around inside right? That could be causing the output to spin. Get a little mass on it and maybe that goes away.

Re: Bolero Build

I checked out that Van Dam boat you mentioned in your first post. Looks very similar to the Bolero to me. You just need some tumblehome in the transom and you'll be really close. The Bolero is capable of some serious speed. The "floating" frames is part of that. It's a really solid design ...

Lanyard and life vest may have saved his life but what nearly killed him was idiotic driving.
