Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

How long is your boat? Did you lengthen your boat?
What engine are you running?
How does it run and handle different weather conditions?
Speed?

My plans came the other day. I need to buy a Rosetta Stone to figure all of this out. (and ask questions on this forum)

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

Smitty, please post some more pics on your boat. I particularly like the deck treatment you used.

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger today. I ordered my Gentry plans. I just went out to my mailbox and they are not here yet. What is up with that I ordered them 10 minutes ago. What is taking so long? Oh well. I went to a local specialty wood store and saw that they have African Mahogany and ...

Re: Marine Plywood in Arizona?

What about sources in Southern California? Might be cheaper for shipping to Arizona.

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

I know that aluminum engine parts don't do too well in salt water but what about fresh water?

I am thinking aluminum heads and intake.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

Hey Dean, yes I have been through your build also. Very nice!! I will be counting on your input!!

Where in Minnesota are you? You are right about the scenery. The northern Midwest states have all of those awesome glacier lakes.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

I am a Mopar guy. I have 3 Mopar hot rods, 2 Darts and a Duster, and a pile of engine parts. I will be selling a couple of them to get my build started. I am planning to build a 408 inch small block Chrysler with around 400 hp. It is too bad that a 383 wouldn't work as I have a fresh very choice one...

Thanks Fergal. You certainly have one of the finer Crackers. I have been through your build several times.

Re: Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

Hey Neel. I will be building the boat in Arizona. I have a 2 month sabbatical in 2 years and depending on whether the project could survive being transported to and from Michigan I may bring it with me so that I don't miss all of that valuable build time. I make annual pilgramages to Michigan. Torch...

Project Gentry – Super Cracker "Buckit List"

Growing up in Detroit in the 50’s and 60’s was a car guys’ nirvana only at the time we didn’t know it. The thunder of a wide open throttle V8 was the most popular music station of the time. I spent my summers during my childhood on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan. For those who don’t know of Torch L...

Crackerbox with Velvet drive, will it work?

I am considering taking a very complete 1971 Correct Craft with a 318 Chrysler and a 71C Velvet Drive inboard as a partial trade on a car that I am selling. I am a Mopar guy so this is perfect for me. I have a couple of questions: 1. Will the CG be too far forward on a stretched Crackerbox (within t...

I bought a 1977 115 hp merc new and had it on a 77 Glastron Carlson CVX16. The motor pretty much had two throttle positions. Idle or full throttle.

I thrashed it on Torch Lake in Michigan for 3 summers and didn't have any problems with the "Tower of Power".

I know that the 143 tooth flywheels were used with the 11" clutches and the 130t were used with the 10 1/2 clutches. I will try to dig up a 130t and measure the diameter. I thought that they also used different starters. The 130t were also used on all automatics and they use the same starters as the...
