Re: Rudder authority

Your size of rudder might already been made for you. you have to check. Rudder sizes from suppliers like Buck Algonquin, have a blade size range for a given size rudder post. If by chance you already have the largest blade for your given size post, then you cannot replace any bigger without installi...

Re: Heaters

Have you tried the old clear plastic sheet insulation thing?
Take a big sheet of clear plastic and staple/ductape/tack nail/ and cover the big garage door that you know will not open again until spring thaw.
Same for any windows you have.
The plastic sheet is not insulation but, the dead air space is.

Re: Heaters

What kind of garage doors do you have? I used to have the routine spec house tin garage door. Later, I replaced it with a insulated, hurricane wind proof structural door. WOW! what a difference. The 100mph wind proof door is more than just 100mph proof, it gets all the heavier hinges, mounts, runner...

Re: TEST BOAT

The subject of 'when do I recoat' my car just doesn't come up in conversation. And for a good reason......... think about it, many cars sit in the open driveway on daily basis. driven in the rain, and at 80mph. But cars have automotive paint underneath their clearcoat. Our boats have epoxy undernea...

Re: TEST BOAT

I have read just about all the posts about someone's varnish, PU, clearcoat and so on. The common denominator in all the posts seems to be the discussion about how long someone's varnish, PU, clearcoat will last. All the posts seem to talk about 'how long before' recoating, refinishing. It seems to ...

Athens is 4 hours from me, and she is northeast of that.
Pm me later in the week, as my weekend work schedule firms up.
Is it impounded by the police at this point?

Re: Building a La Paz 24

the vertical grain, or, quarter sawn are very close.
But, there is more than good looks that go along with that.
The vertical grain will saw straighter, stay straighter, work better, bends more consistent, won't bind the saw blade, etc., etc.
Besides all that, it looks good too.

Re: How Did You Know?

cleaned out the garage of old stuff and come across a drill jig, or, tool, and then wonder what it was......
find a repair on something, something you know nobody else was around. but you can't quite remember.

That looks incredible. I wouldn't worry about the variability in the color of the planks. It's just the way wood is.
I'm onboard with that also.
it looks like you already got the wood grain to 'pop' and this is only a computer pic.
I would like to see that up close and at the Gathering.

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Neel, What genre of instrument panel are you looking to do? Old school guages, or modern? I ask because you already mention some electrical items, thrusters, hatches. If you go with modern instrument, it is possible to have a single LCD display that does engine guages and/or GPS like a touch screen ...
