Spline Cpnnector

I have a lower unit with a 14-spline top (~5/8) and I need to marry that to a 3/8th pulley. Any sources for something that I can weld / adapt ?

Thanks

Sorry for the delay. Been traveling I built a motor well for the jimbo (the kind that cuts a hole in the transom similar to the Little Hunk) and yes, you can modify the size. You have to do a bit more cutting and fitting, but it can work. You really need to know the size of the outboard (the dimensi...

where is the motor ID

I've got a neighbor with a Honda 50 hp engine she bought second hand. The seller told her it was a 2003, but looking at it, It looks like a 2006 model.

Where on the engine is the ID plate ? Thanks

Bonehead Error - Biaxial on 2 layers

In a stunning lack of thought, I ended up using biaxial cloth on BOTH layers of my seams. So instead of having a nice weave on the top layer, I have the weave of the cloth. I know biaxial is a lot stronger than the standard cloth, so I'm not upset about that, but how much work should I put into smoo...

Don't change the ratio. I accidentally mixed my epoxy 50/50 instead of the 5/1 and that was by far the shortest, most painful "pot life" I have ever seen. We needed to fill the hole with water to keep it from baking the outside. These reactions are not to be fooled with. If you need thicker epoxy, y...

Supporting the boat upside down

In the next few weeks, I'm about to flip the jimbo and do the bottom. While building, I've had it on the support rails per the instructions. Once I flip, what do I support it with ? Do I just put it back down on the rails ?

Thanks

Steering Wheel Setup

I have to say that I've managed to avoid ever doing a steering throttle setup on a boat. Until now. I'm working through the Jimbo and I want to make sure I have the right clearances, etc to install steering on the outboard. Anyone seen a "idiots guide" to putting in an outboard steering system ? Tha...

I found the rigging guide and it was everything I needed on this subject and some things I hadn't considered. Yamaha's is on the net. Great help. I was able to confirm the size will work for all the motors I might expect to use.

Thanks. That was a big tip.

Thats funny. We are talking about two different motor "wells" and both are in the hunk plans. I think I should have been more specific. The type in the picture is the most common. The type I am talking about is where the motor goes into a well in the boat. http://www.glen-l.com/designs/workboat/dsn-...

Bill; You are gifted at showing up when I have the most mess ! I cleaned during that horrible rain on Saturday. We were going to epoxy but we decided to pass when we it went to straight down. I used Sunday to fix some misc problems (my bow is STILL not right). But at least I now have the correct sep...

Motor Well - Dimensions

I am about to cut the transom for my recessed motor well and of course, having those last minute panic attacks that come from modifying a design that belongs to someone else ! But I'm finally stitched and this weekend is the epoxy festival. I plan to power the boat with a 20-25hp 4stroke. I don't ne...

Side Seams on Jimbo

I'm just checking since I am about to start the sides, but as need as I can tell, while we build up a "laminated" keel from 3/8th ply, we don't do the same thing on the sides at the chine. We just use the filler/glass cloth.

That seem right ?

A good point. I was toying with the idea of using the outboards impeller assembly to pump cool water up and out, or even using a tap from the bait well. I could easily see things overheating at full throttle.
Thanks

Appropriate lower unit for E-Drive

My local dealer has a 9hp outboard, lower and mid unit. In short, everything I need for an electric motor, except the motor. I've got a 15hp brushless DC motor and as near as I can tell with my trusty micrometer, the same shaft. So; my ignorance is about to come through. Is there any harm in running...
