Re: Launch Date

Well, the launch went great!!! What a feeling! Ran her with 7 family members aboard for about 2 hours without a hitch. It all went so smoothly it was almost unnerving. It helped that the weather was perfect too. What a design! The ride is amazing and unlike any "modern" design I've ever experienced....

Re: Tahoe building cradle

Harry, I believe it is 10' long. I'll measure it tonight when I get home and let you know the exact dimensions. I am sure it would ride safely in the back of a pickup with a 6' bed and tailgate down. In fact I moved it easily once that way. It probably weighs about 150#. Jim, I used a combination of...

Tahoe building cradle

If anyone in the North Reading, MA area is interested, I have a builder's cradle for a Tahoe 23 on heavy duty casters that served me well. Your's for the taking. I'll hold off on recycling it for a couple of weeks to see if anyone may be interested.

Re: Spray rails

I used the same method on my Tahoe as specialk for the spray rails. On the hull guards, because they're wider, I screwed them from the inside. Not launched yet so too early to tell how this plan will work out.

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Just made provisions for stereo speakers on my Tahoe. Two speakers mounted on the front base of the rear seats and two in the aft cockpit on the ceilings port and starboard just above passenger's foot level. Both are really low visibility areas aesthetically.

Re: water based stain

When applying the West or System Three epoxies over oil based stain the epoxy beaded up on the surface. The stain had been allowed to dry for 48 hours. Maybe it would have been alright had I waited longer.

Re: water based stain

For what it's worth, I used water based dye from Lockwood in NY. The dye can be mixed with either water or alcohol. I mixed it with water and applied it to mahogany. I have coated different dyed components of my build with Smith's CPES, some with System Three Clear Coat and with West Epoxy all with ...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Thanks Dave, I'll try talking to a stateside manufacturer and supplier to the boating industry as you did. I did find that Taylor Made sells a couple of variations of a stock replacement windshield that can be field cut to match the camber of the deck but they don't seem to have the sweet curve that...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Looking great Dave! Where were you able to find your windshield? I'm building the Tahoe in the 23' version and would love to have a curved windshield.

Re: Hatch Trim

I just purchased 1 1/2" 316 hatch trim from Hamilton Marine. By far the best prices I could find. It was less than half of Jamestown's price.

Re: Tahoe 23 progress

Was wondering if anyone has suggestions or advice as to how to bend half oval stainless trim around the hull guard without it kinking?
