Fresh varnish, ready to go

It was time for new varnish so spent the last few weekends sanding, filling some cracks and revarnishing the deck and sides. Ready for the season.
First ACBS show is in a couple weeks in Clear Lake.

Re: Off Center Engine Hatch, thoughts?

I vote for #2, unless you stand at the end and sight down the lines you will never see it. it will look fine.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

I don't know how thick your inserts are. I used this http://www.classicboating.com/parts/win ... nel-gasket
Lay it across the frame channel and push the glass in. after it is all set use a razor blade to trim the gasket. This is about 1/16" thick.

I don’t know about this paint but with varnish I never had good luck with even the best brisseled brush. I now use Jen poly foam brushes, work great for me.

Re: Seattle Barrelback progress

The steering box and column is what I used. Mine was from a Century, I converted it to the port side so my pictures show the opposite side of what yours would be. There are ends that connect to the steering box and the tiller and 1/2 inch pipe that is run along the motor stringer through simple wood...

This years houseboat trip

Got back from our annual houseboat trip a couple weeks ago. Went to lake Mead and had a great time. The first day was 115 degrees but it "cooled down" to the low 100s the rest of the time. The water was in the 80s. We setup over 20 miles from the marina and it was almost like we had the whole lake to...

Re: Wood Boat Porn (work appropriate)

A member of our ACBS chapter has three Van Dam boats in his collection at his winery in Clearlake. The Saturday dinner for the Wood and Glory show is usually held there.

Re: Boat Cover Question

My boat stays covered outside so it is hard on the covers. I used to use Stitch master covers and they would last about three years but they stopped making them. I tried others and they would not even last a year. This is the cover I am using now https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041E9CJ6/ref=oh_a...

1st annual Runabouts on the River

Last weekend our Northern California / Lake Tahoe ACBS had a new show at the Stockton Sailing Club. We had over 40 boats. Including 2 Glen-L boats. ( Mine and a Cracker Box built by the Sea Scouts) The show was free to the public and we had a good turnout. A few pictures IMG_0166.jpg Glen-L Cracker ...
