PCM motors

I have read that some people have used these motors on their inboard boats. I have two questions and hopefully someone can answer them. Are these engines adaptable for an I/O? What is the smallest hp rating and weight of the engine? Thanks for any information and any leads to the dealer network too.

Re: Alternative to Cedar?

Big box stores rarely sells Cypress in planking stock. Check out a website called Woodfinder. Ask some of the homebuilders in your area for additional sources for both woods. They may lead you to some local sources. Western Red Cedar used to be sold in long boards and used for house trim and stocked...

Re: Alternative to Cedar?

Florida has a lot of Cypress. Some of the sawmills on the Georgia line has what is known as White Cypress. This is sometimes a name for White Cedar.

This is a first class job. I call it real eye candy too. :) Do you plan on doing any local shows in the region? I would love to see the boat up close over the winter. Thanks.

The latest map shows the storm moving further west. I hope the winds stay below dangerous speeds. The rain could be a benefit for the Miss. River if the storm would stay moving north after it makes landfall.

I found a couple of sites. These folks are standing in waders. There are some pretty areas in that area of the world. http://www.fishinginireland.info/trout/shannon.htm This link shows a lot of simple open rowing type boats with a small kicker outboard. http://irishwaterwayshistory.com/about/irish-i...

It would help to know what part of the world your Shannon River is located. There appears to be several. Do you have any links that may show any boats thats being used now? The bottom design could come into play.

Re: Fly fishing Lake boat with cabin ?

Many bay boats have what is known as working cabins. But they are built all the way foward. This could create a problem if you cast from the bow. I think that a lot of boats will pull up to fish and cast foward. This may not be the case. But with a 20 foot boat you do restrict your room on deck with...

Re: Fly fishing Lake boat with cabin ?

I would think that any structure above a steering wheel helm would cause some problems with fly casting. You could always build a center console model and add a bimini top that will fold down when going fishing. There are also slides that mount on the side decks which makes the removal of the top ea...

Re: Sealing an Outdoor Cypress Ceiling

Maybe you should install blue or pink board insulation before you install your cypress. There is also a foil type out that comes in sheet form too. I would use a good oil base primer and paint on the hidden back side.

Re: Greetings from the desert of Idaho!

Does anyone have experience with building a 20' runabout of this type? I'm curious about costs, time, problems, etc. As I've never built a boat before, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I could, of course, buy a used fiberglass boat for $6-10,000, but like the looks of wooden boats much,much...

Re: A Newbie from Malaysia

Take a look at other boat designs and the bottom shapes of boats thats now being used in your waters. This will give you a good idea of what is favorable. Then you can pick something that is simular.
