Re: A new boat for Gibbs?

Gayle, then you need to contact them and make arrangements to provide plans, frames, etc. If for no other reason than to say that Glen-L has the plans and expertise. Besides it would be really cool.

A new boat for Gibbs?

I just watched NCIS ( I think the season final episode). The closing scene(s) showed Gibbs starting to scale up a model boat. One is left with the impression that he plans to build a full size version of the model. So, Gayle, will we be seeing another set Glen-L of frames as we did when he was build...

Re: OUTBOARD MOTOR QUESTION

Mercury Mark 800's are really quite common. Finding a short shaft one not quite as easy. There are two versions of this motor; a full gear shift and a direct reverse. I happen to have a 1961 Mark 800 full gear shift. Currently it is a longshaft, but I also have a complete midsection to make it a sho...

Re: Hunter 27

I am very happy she found a nice home. I really wanted the boat, but getting her to Tampa proved to be not very cost effective. I do not know how to sail, so I needed a licensed Sailboat Captain and the insurance company required a haulout and survey (not a big deal or terribly expensive) prior to b...

Re: Gayle & John Come Out of The Closet!

Come on, Bill. They just enjoyed living in a small house and have chosen a bit larger living space. But, that being said, No Pictures - Didn't happen.

Where are the pictures/movies Gayle?

Re: Little Hunk or Roustabout?

I do not think there is much room under the bow deck of the Roustabout to allow for a porta-potty. I would look at the Carioca, Bravado, and Sea Knight. Any of these would satisfy the porta-potty/privacy issue, provide room for family cruising, fishing, and trailerable. Although a bit longer, the CS...

Re: Andy's Zip build

I'm no expert, but I do believe the tach has to be compatable with the motor you are using. There may be a sending unit required, or not, depending on the motor. The volt meter or water pressure gauge should be no problem.

Re: Water Drainage

Drainage of water to the bilge pump or transom drains is accomplished by the limber holes. Look at the plans and instructions carefully and you will see where to cut them in the frames.

Re: What do i need to start.

Use the boat and adjust the trim accordingly by moving the pin on the motor mount swivel. Trim tabs should not be necessary.

Re: Building form height and how high?

The plans will specify a height to make the building form. However many builders riase the form to be easier to work on the hull. Just do not make it so high it is difficult to reach the keel.

Re: What do i need to start.

For a motor of the size you mentioned (9-15hp) I believe you will only find them to be manual. I am not aware of any motor of those sizes that have electric tilt and trim. For your throttle question: are you wanting a true deadman throttle? I.E, one that stops the motor when it is your hand is remov...

Re: cody, new member omaha, nebraska

No problem. Glen-L has a book and a manual I highly suggest you purchase and read: Fiberglass Boat Building for Amateurs and Fiberglass boatbuilding Manual. You will find them both to be very informative. Should you decide to cold mold the boat, Glen-L has other books that will also provide valuable...
