Header pic

I made the header pic on woodyboater.com! I know Roberta has been there as well. It's a nice honor. He also published a quick story I wrote about the first two outings in the boat. Here's a link: http://www.woodyboater.com/blog/2017/08/24/5-years-of-weekends-and-nights-in-the-garage-liven-the-woody-...

Re: Chicago Belle Isle launch....success!

Back home after a full day on the lake. The whole day went smoothly. I have some tweaks here or there. But they are only to improve things. Nothing actually needed fixing. Great weather. Great group of guys and the boat was AWESOME! Thanks for everyone's help through out the years with answers and i...

Support boat. We ended up dropping it after about 30 minutes and all got in the wood boat.

Chicago Belle Isle launch....success!

It floats! (and cruises nicely too) Last Friday felt like a November day in Wisconsin. Luckily Saturday warmed up to the upper 70's and perfect sunshine. A great day to launch. As much as my wife wanted to be a part of the first cruise, she also said she didn't want to be around if something went wr...

Re: Launch date is set

Thanks for all the tips guys. I think they will all make the day go much smoother! I'm not new to boating in general. I have been out on the water most summer weekends for years now. But this true inboard will be my first venture. I hear it can be quite different than an outboard or I/O. That's what...

Launch date is set

I found the receipt for my very first wood purchase on this project. I will be completing it just shy of 5 years. I'll be putting it in the water August 5th. I have some buddies coming up to Wisconsin to help me with the first ride. One can be driving our other boat as a 'support boat'. The other ca...

Re: Monaco Restart

Just installed my cut-water from Mike Sunday. Fit perfectly.
I sent him the patterns (from his videos) and then picked up the parts (I only live about an hour away from him) a few weeks later.

Highly recommended!

Photobucket mess

Not sure if you all have heard, but Photobucket has changed their policy on third party image hosting/linking. They have shut off linking to forums and effectively killed thousands of forum threads by blocking the photos from showing. My build thread (http://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=15&...

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

I'm looking at everyone's exhaust cut-outs, are mine too high up the transom? When I say "high" I'm mean after the boat is flipped, my intent is to have the bottom of exhaust trumpets at the water line. Matt B EDIT: Sorry. I was replying to the question on page one of this thread. I didn'...

Re: Belle Isle in Chicago build thread (with a few pics)

Thanks for all the great comments guys. It means a lot to hear. Bob- I know that you went through the steps before. I have been lurking on your build website for the last several years. When I saw you photo of the rough varnish, I was hoping I didn't have to go through that. But...I did. Just like e...

Re: Belle Isle in Chicago build thread (with a few pics)

Finally I used a polishing compound and a foam pad. It took all the swirl marks out left by the wool pad. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/abdw-wcw/Mobile%20Uploads/20170520_141428.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/abdw-wcw/Mobile%20Uploads/20170520_143034.jpg Here are the same pi...
