Value of Zip

Hi I have almost finished building my Zip. However, unfortunately I am no longer in a position to use it myself. Can anyone give me an idea of its for sale value. I have been told it has been built to a high standard (I'm too modest to agree!) It would be a great help if someone give me a rough idea...

Re: Trailer for Zip?

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys. I think I will take the advice of vupilot. I say that only because vupilot has experience of the Zip. I have visited your website and am most impressed with your Zip build.
Many thanks

Trailer for Zip?

Hi
I am approaching the final stages of building a Zip and I am now on the lookout for a trailer. Will I be safe getting a trailer which will carry 750 to 1000 lbs.
Many thanks

Trailer for Zip

Could someone please tell me roughly what a Zip weighs - including engine etc. I realise engine size will vary in weight. But just a ballpark figure would be great. I will be buying a trailer soon and any advice on this would also be great.
Many thanks

Zip engine box

Hi
I am building a Zip and apparently there should be dimensions for the engine box, which is attached to the transom. I unfortunately didn't receive such dimensions with the plans. Does anyone know what they are. I would be very grateful for your help.
Many thanks

Re: Engine Size

Hi Graham,
For a minute I thought there was someone of similar interests living nearby. I live in Cambridge also - only it's in the UK.
Many thanks for your replies everybody. I will now be looking for an 8-10 hp Mariner, Evinrude, Honda, or some other reliable make of outboard.

Engine Size

Hi I will soon be choosing an outboard engine for the Zip I am building. I will be using it on either a river or lake here in the UK where the speed limit is 7 knots, which is fine because I want to cruise gently along and enjoy the scenery. Could anyone please advise me on the size of engine I shou...

Hi Bruce
Many thanks for taking the time to reply. Your link was invaluable. I have had a quick look at your Monaco and it looks amazing. I am going to have a closer look look later.

Water or spirit stain

Hi
I would like to mahogany-stain the floor (sole) of the Zip I am building, then coat it with epoxy resin (West System). The floor (sole) is marine ply. Please could anyone tell me if I should use water-based stain or spirit-based stain or does it not matter?
Many thanks

Protect the shine?

Hi
I have just finished top-coating my Zip and am very pleased (eventually - it's been the hardest job so far!!). You know how we wax our cars to keep and protect the shine. Is there something you can do to protect the shine on the boat?

Can I reuse?

Hi
I have just finished my first coat of top-coat and have quite a bit of paint left over from the first can. Is it OK to mix this with the next unopened can? If I am able to, I could do three coats rather than two. The paint is a one-part conventional paint system. Thanks.

PAINTING HER BOTTOM

Hi I am about to start painting my Zip. What I really want to know is: do I really need to antifoul her bottom, or can I get away with just using the paint that I am going to use on the sides, which is Sikkens Super Gloss. The reason I ask is because the boat will be used only in fresh water, traile...

Skeg shape for a Zip

Hi
Can I angle the back edge of the skeg, or does it have to be at right angles to the keel. I would also like to angle the front edge backwards and round off all the edges. The Zip plans just state that it should be about 2" at the back and tapered to 1" at the front.
Many thanks
William
