Turning over troubles...

I took the skis out on the water yesterday after putting in new plugs, gas, and spark plug receptacles. One ran well, just needs some tuning possibly a carb rebuild. However one ski fired immediately ran for about a minute then would not fire again. I would wait 30 sec to a 2 min and try and restart...

Jet ski power ought to be a part of the design. Consider to extra design and modifications one must make in order to put in a jet motor. You aren't just slapping on an outboard. I agree with Steve that we need to make sure information does not get lost in all the topics! Cheers!

We started ripping into the skis last night, trying to get them running the same and getting the same set ups. We almost had a heart attack. The prior owners plugged the hot air exhaust out put. Not the actual echaust but the black vaccum hose that runs into the bulkhead. The guy who sold us the ski...

Twin 650 Square-Toon

So we picked up our '89 650s SX last night. However we contacted the previous owner and he was interested in the build, about putting a jet ski motor into a classic runabout styling. He told us that his buddy just finished a 25' pontoon with square toons with dual 650's. According to him, he has own...

I believe that we are going to be grafting part of the jet ski into the boat, due to the relative flat hull of the Flying Saucer we are looking for some "grip" on the water, which we think will be gained from the ridges/steps on the hull of the ski. So by grafting part of the ski into the hull of th...

Engine Compartment dimensioning

The more I look over pictures of peoples' boats, I cant help but notice the step coming off the transom. I noticed Steve Crawford has one, and I was wondering why do you need one? Is it due to space restrictions? If space restrictions are the case, how much room do you need for the jet ski install? ...

Getting on Plane

We are getting ready to assemble our boats. However we have a growing concern about getting the boat to plane properly. So is there a drive shaft angle concern with the jetski drive? We are building Flying Saucer/ Zip, but do we just focus on making the drive shaft parallel to the hull/ water line? ...

Jet ski speed...

I am beginning the initial stages of my Flying Saucer build. While planning to use a jet ski engine, I will have to modify the cockpit position. However I am looking for some info on how the boat planes, and what type of speed is expected or resulted from putting a 650 in a 12'-14'boat? Depedning on...
