Re: G15 River Run

The poker run sounds like a great idea and we could have the places we stop promote it so we might bring in outside interest to wooden boat building.

Matt, it's going to be able go quite a bit faster than 42. Let's go ahead and start a betting pool on the top speed. I'll take 52 mph.

Re: G15 Dates and Location

We're definitely coming! We've not reserved a spot yet because we just bought property in Jasper, TN to build our retirement home; so, we may be living there by then and will just commute over. In any event, we plan to attend. BTW, even though Jasper is only about 15 minutes away from Hales Bar and ...

Re: G14 pics

Hey, we checked into our hotel in downtown Chattanooga and went to a fantastic restaurant that you would not think of or even notice as a being a restaurant. It's Puckett's Grocery right next to the Aquarium. There's the grocery store but on one end with its own entrance is the restaurant and bar. W...

Re: Food for Gathering 2020

Damn it, Tom!

First of all, YOU ARE THE MAN.

Second, now I feel so inadequate because I'm not bringing a cajun dish.

Thank you sir for setting the standard. I'll try to live up to it going forward.

Re: G-15 Alternative Location

It looks pretty nice Ken. I expect Neel or Bill could best answer this, but, what's the risk of trying a different spot. I mean, if we didn't like it couldn't we always return to Hales Bar, or would that bridge be burnt?

Re: Gathering Location Poll

I will wait to cast my vote until after this weekend.
That's not a bad idea, Dave. By the way, the way the poll is set up, you can change your vote all the way up until the end of October. So, if anyone attending this weekend has a change of heart, they can change their vote.

Re: Gathering Location Poll

Butch, as usual, I agree with most of what you say. Hales Bar is certainly an excellent venue for displaying the boats and socializing. The location has a lot going for it. However, with all due respect, you've not been staying in the same accommodations that the rest of us have. We'll be at the Gat...

Re: G-15 Alternative Location

I don't even know if the group wants to move for sure
Good point, Chris. I started a poll thread so that we can get an official count - viewtopic.php?f=75&t=35717

Gathering Location Poll

The issues for staying or moving can be found on multiple threads. Here's the place to cast your vote. A vote to move will spring several people into action to locate a suitable new location. A vote to stay will prevent people from wasting time looking for a new venue if most of the group would pref...

Re: G-15 Alternative Location

Hah! You see Roberta, you and I are on opposite ends of this wonderful you-ess-ov-eh. I noted your pictures you shared on a different thread of a Wisconsin gathering held a couple weeks ago. All of you were wearing jackets during the broad daylight. So by the time our Gathering comes around you're i...

Re: G-15 Alternative Location

As long as changes are being made, what about moving this thing back to October. The last few that I've been to at Hales Bar have been really hot, particularly in the afternoons when facing west right into the sun. BTW, we'd be facing directly west at Wildwood, too. And yes, I understand it was cold...

Re: Facebook

I'm with you Roberta. I miss wishing people "Happy Birthday", connecting with old high school friends, finding out who just had a baby or grandchild, or sadly, who passed away. Additionally, I was a member of many Facebook Groups specifically sharing event pictures and info about clubs and organizat...

Re: G-14 Who's Going and Where

I’d rather not run the river at night again. Hah! A lot of people are a "little crazy" and then there are a few people who are "really crazy". Looks like age might be catching up to you and so you might be migrating from the "really crazy" to only a "little crazy" group. Look forward to seeing ya'l...

Re: G-14 Who's Going and Where

I'll be in the area and so am planning to pop in late Friday afternoon or early evening for a couple of hours. Looking forward to seeing the people and the boats.
