Re: CRACKER BOX

When installing the motor in a Crackerbox, the angle of the motor is a compromise. The short length of the boat severely limits the shallowness allowable for the motor. There will be windage issues regardless if the motor is mounted frontwards or backwards. The hp losses from windage on a mild small...

Re: CRACKER BOX

Ferg, I measured the center of my motor from the transom and it's 76". My boat is 15' long. I am using a outboard rudder to keep the shaft angle as shallow as possible. The shaft angle is 10.5 degrees. My motor is bobtailed, another words backwards. I also have direct drive which takes getting ...

Re: A bit of engine help please

Here are some pics of my bobtail crackerbox oilpan, engine, and install. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/gatorbus96/cracker/CRACK003.jpg This is a pic of my oil pan. You can see the windage tray (to help control oil foaming). The diagonal things in the pan are the trap doors, these are one w...

Re: Marinising 350 Chev

Marcus,

I'm running raw water.

That is a cool set up. It would fit perfectly in my rig. Are you in the sates or on the other side of the world? If you don't mind me asking, how many US greenbacks does one of those units go for? I am definitely interested.

Re: Marinising 350 Chev

mjleguay I would like some info on your dog clutch set up. Pics would be cool also. I have a chain coupler now that is a PITA to work with. I am running a four corner water outlet intake in my crackerbox and it works fine. Check out Professional Products intakes. I am using the Crosswinds intake on ...

Re: CRACKER BOX

Thanks for the compliments, I will look for some early build pics. As far as looking for a strut, I would wait until your further on into your build. There are too many factors involved, what motor V6 or V8, will you run a trans or go bobtail, and will you mount the rudder in front or behind the tra...

Re: motor location.....

Here is a crackerbox with the motor moved back 8" from the plans. Standard 15' length. I have a 10 degree shaft angle and outboard rudder with cavitation plates. The boat has a 300hp 350 Chevy. It is not scary at all. The racers are running 650hp. That would be scary. http://www.youtube.com/wat...

A lot of older MasterCraft and Ski Nautique ski boats use Fords with trannies.

Hope that helps.

The oil pan I have came from the P-74 racing Cracker from CA. When I was building my boat, I started to chat with the owner of the P-74 who was interested in my build. He gave me advise when needed, and gave me a great deal on all his old Crackerbox parts he no longer needed. One of those parts is a...

Here's a pic of a 15' Cracker with direct drive in the build stage. The shaft is a 9 degree angle and the engine at centered over frame 3. Also I have transom mounted rudder. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/gatorbus96/100_0087.jpg If you notice the motor is in backwards. You can also see the...
