Until recently, there were a few parts of Alabama where there was no gas. The pipeline dried up after the hurricanes disrupted the refineries and those folks was left high and dry. From what I understand, the supplies are getting replenished and there shouldn't be any trouble us getting fuel up ther...

Might I suggest Saturday morning breakfast up at the lodge? They have a WONDERFULL buffet there on the weekends. Usually not too crowded, fantastic setting, newly remodled, great view, no weather considerations, reasonable cost. Hot grits and ham, waffles and pancakes made to order, eggs, or whateve...

I'm not sure how to work this out but I thought I'd mention that my family has reserved one of the cabins during the Gathering. Our vacation starts that weekend and we stay on at the lake for another two weeks afterwards. We usually make reservations for the next year as we're checking out so we're ...

Sorry to hear about your calamity, Dale. Something like that happening far from home is one of my worst travel nightmares. That's one of the reasons I came on-line and tried to warn everyone about the mountain roads and the dangerous conditions around the park. I *almost* mentioned the weird interse...

KenS commissioned me to make a extra special prize for leakcheck. I believe the correct spelling is B-O-O-B-Y.... Specially adapted for the occasion by placing it on a board and banging a few nails through it. I hope you like macaroni art!

My dad probably has the exact thing you're looking for sittin' down there in his garage, Kenney. I'll call tonight and see if it rings any bells. Maybe he will know what you need and can bring it. He might calll you....

It's doing it again! I swear, it's like groundhog day. Every year we've visited Guntersville, the first day has been an exact duplicate of the first visit. Mid 40's in the morning, gets up to about 70 in the afternoon... Wonderful weather!!!! We should all get there just in time to see trees turn gr...

This is the crankiest forum I know of to log in to. There's one other weather factor that's never predicted in the long range forecasts that can greatly impact whether or not you're going to enjoy your outing, and that's the wind. For the sailboat guys, a good stiff wind is great but I've seen it ge...

The long term outlook is beginning to show up on some of the weather sites and right now it's still a toss up as to what the weather will be next weekend. Wunderground is predicting a 70° high with 30% chance of showers for Friday. Pretty universal/normal sounding forecast so I guess there's really ...

Looks great - I think I just found my anchorage! :) Looks like pretty shallow draft getting into that cove, though. If you're talking about the area around the gravel beach, it's deeper than you think. There's at least 9' of water all the way to the ramp. The rocky soil has a very steep angle of re...

We dropped Sprint because it was non-functional in most places in the park. We now use AT&T Cingular which seems to always be there but marginal. The cabins have their own launch ramp but it's not a very big one. I've seen 24' poontons launched there but I wouldn't use it for a heavy, deep draft hul...

There are plenty of the 4 legged type at Guntersville.. They'll do most anything for grapes. : Stickybuns. The deer like stickybuns the best. They hang around the dumpster behind the gedunk in the campgrounds waiting until the park ranger throws out the day old pastries. If you got a box of day-old...

Sorry, I can't help you out with the exact info about anchorage. I've never actually been out on the water there. I have seen larger boats on the lake and I've seen guys pull up into slews and backwater areas and stay the night. There is a considerable amount of barge traffic to and from the grain m...
