Hi Chris
We met at a couple of the Gatherings but we have missed attending for a few years.
So sorry to hear your news. Please know you and your family are in our prayers!

Another alternative, which avoids the use of other chemicals....but needs equipment is to vacuum bag it. Not saying it is cheap and/or easy!
BTW - Hi Stuart! How is she coming? Water this year?

Re: G-10
Hi Folks
We have missed a few years because of my work. My wife and I both missed the trip down to attend. I really hope, if I start planning now, we can make it for G10.
I would be bringing my Bull's Eye - Sparrow.
Hope I won't be the only sail in sight!
Cheers

Re: Glen-l 14 mast ?
Hi Dave One thing to keep in mind in addition to the weight. On my Bull's Eye I used an aluminum extrusion mast for weight and simplicity. Thing to remember.....aluminum masts don't FLOAT!! If capsized the boat will tend to turtle. You need to add floatation to the mast extrusion to keep the mast fl...

Re: Halyard Block Question? New Sailor!
Getting the fixed bail on the block off the mast will save your varnish!
Even the same block with a pin/shackle instead of the fixed would help some.
Cheers

Hi Stuart It has been a crazy year for me at work and I'm only just getting around to catching up on the forum. I missed The Gathering again this year because of work :( On the other hand....we are just back from a bare-boat charter in Greece. We had a Beneteau 37 for a week so I can't complain too ...

Hi
Glad they worked for you. Some folks complain Lee Valley tools/hardware is expensive, but I don't think I have ever been disappointed with anything I have purchased from them.
They are a great resource.
Cheers

Re: Raising the centre board
Hi Stuart I would imagine you will not need to do it very often. If you are sailing in Lake Ontario out of a marina, it will likely be perhaps only around put in/haul out for trailering or winter storage. Do you plan to trailer launch or use a marina/yacht club and their crane or travel lift? I don'...

Re: The Dinner Table
Hi Stuart Most transom motors are bracket mounted as per the type spoken of earlier in the thread. I can't say I have seen one on a sailboat ever connected to the tiller/rudder. Most people simply pretend the outboard is an inboard by locking it more or less straight ahead and using the tiller rudde...

Hi Stuart
Just catching up on your pictures - looks wonderful! Thinking this spring for launch?
You didn't mention how you wanted to flip the leaf for the table but this might be an idea?

Re: Francis Drake build
Mark, when you dealt with noah's, did you have any issues with the quality of the lumber they sent you? I will have a 15000 dollar order to them in the spring for the francis drake hull......as far as I know they are the only marine lumber shop in canada that handles the east coast. My experience w...

Re: Step 1, Obtain plans
Yes!! Had a single mast on a Beneteau 43 in the BVI, and when the wind piped up, and running the toe rail close to the water it was way more than enough for some of my family - the rest of us had a blast though :D More masts means more complexity and more options, but in a boat under 20ft I just don...
