Re: Double layer ply vs single...

I looked at the picture of the boat..
The bottom is relatively flat - however - there is twist..
Twisting 1/2" plywood is going to be a pain... its going to put up a fight.. pulling on frames, etc as you get it into position..
just a thought.

Re: Double layer ply vs single...

Nice to see my site is still getting used. and agreed - If you want to be certain to have no voids - vacuum is the best way to do it.. Vacuum is the perfect clamp - 2000+ pounds of clamping pressure per square foot in the exact shape of your boat.. AND - if there is a void potential - the vacuum pul...

Re: Biscayne 22 vs Belle Isle

Both are flat bottom at the transom
That means they like flat water
If you will use the boat where there is a lot of chop - you want some 'V' at the transom.
But they are pretty similar otherwise.

Re: Seattle Barrelback progress

Making the seating was a source of anxiety.. When I did mine - there wasn't a lot of reference material.. I'm not sure there is now.. That said - I went out and took measurements from my daily driver.. seat depth, height, angle, etc.. That turned out to be a big help in getting close to the final se...

You may want to wait until your seats are in place and make sure it will direct the wind over your eyes (and hat if possible)

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Hope your engine problem is solved.. They are a little aggressive on the impeller - My engine sat for a number of years during the build - then I used it a few seasons - and it did fail! I did't realize the big V8 had an impeller (duh) - I just figured a more traditional water pump was at work. That...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

I didn't read all the way back to see what engine you had - but this sounds very much like an issue I had on my truck years ago.. If your engine is modern and has a mass air flow sensor on the intake and the throttle body - it could be dirty causing the butterfly valve to stick. I can't remember all...

Great looking boat!
Fantastic job - really.. I'm jealous.
Very very nice.

Making a Shutterfly site is pretty simple and is a good way to document what you did.

No issues..

You do want it to me accessible however - everything fails eventually.
