Re: 10 vs 21 micron filter??
extract from ryco filter faq What is micron rating? A measure of the pore size in the filter media. Expressed as either ‘Nominal’ or ‘Absolute’. Nominal Rating relates to the percentage of particles at a given size that a filter can capture ie. 10 microns at 90% means it will remove 90% of particle...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo
Roberta, I think is't a good idea to have a pro put it all together. Luckily i've never had one fail in a boat but as an ex-R&D test-engineer in a transmissions lab i've seen many couplings fail under load. And ,without going into much details, when you push 300+ hp through a 1" shaft that runs unde...

Re: Fuel consumption Tahoe
Daniel, The older ski-boats have a shaft-drive so if you can pick up one that has an engine in good condition you have all the parts in one buy: engine, gearbox, shaft, rudder etc. Having the engine rebuilt if necessary isn't really expensive. I wouldn't start with a Mercruiser 3.0L unless you can f...

Re: Fuel consumption Tahoe
For instance I can buy a used Mercruiser 5.7 V8 (500 hrs) for 4K (euro's). Or a new 5.0 V8 for 8.5K (euro's) Daniel, Those will be bobtail-engines i suspect, so you'll need to add some for the gearbox and other accessoires. You may want to consider a Ford V6-engine, many ski-boats in the UK used th...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo
Roberta, i see you will be using Epifanes poly-urethane for your sides and bottom. I was browsing the epifanes website because i'm about to order paint for mine and noticed they specify the poly-urethane for above waterline. Did you order "bottom paint" for your bottom or is the normal "poly-urethan...

Re: Barrelback 20'
I'm doing the same. I have a full size drawing of the boat so it was the easiest way for me to check everything.alycat wrote:Starting to make a full size layout for the shaft hole measurements? I have a full size print of the engine. Has anyone done this before? Or am i off my rocker?

Re: Barrelback 20'
I've noticed that most builders cut the plywood across the grain of the outer layer and not lengthwise? Is there a reason for this?
Reason i'm asking is that i noticed a significant different in stiffness between the two.
Thanks,
Joris

Re: Vent placement on Gentry
Thanks Jenko, i wasn't aware those fumes are heavier than air.
What about size? Is one 3" extractor (170cfm) sufficient for a boat like the Gentry?

Re: Vent placement on Gentry
Can anyone tell me why the inlets need to be just under the deck and exhausts need to draw from the bilge?
Hot air and fumes rise so i thought it would be better the other way around...

Re: Riviera powered by v12 jaguar
I have no experience with the Kalmaker-products, seems pretty high-end material.
Do they specify placement for the exhaust gas sensors? They seems close to the ports.
Nice welding btw
