Re: Tug Along 18

I'm also wondering how other builders have secured their tanks. Is there a method that is preferred or advised?

Re: Tug Along 18

I've been able to get a few more things done on the tug. I have most if the cabinets in and the floor. Also, I got started on the trunk cabin frame work. That went fairly well, since I have made the cabin follow the shear there was more work. But I'm happy with it. I still have some thinking to do on...

Re: Tug Along 18

My wife has made an observation that I'm really ill.
I get up in the morning to take a boat to a shipyard to work on boats. Then I get on another boat to go home to work on another boat.

Re: Tug Along 18

Bill, It's an absolute joy to work on the ship. It makes the crab boat decks, freezer holds, and interiors worth it, it's not often anymore that we have a chance to practice our craft. Every now and then something pops up, but those jobs are always small compared to this scope of work. It's really r...

Re: Tug Along 18

We've been working 7 days a week on the Virginia V. Here's a couple of pictures of the work I've been doing on the steamship. The offer still stands to anyone interested in touring the ship and out shop. Just let me know, I'm located in Ballard near Seattle.

Re: Tug Along 18

Carl, You are absolutely right! I won't have anywhere close to the overhead needed to finish the house. What I've decided to do is for the main bulkhead, is turn my 3/4" ply sideways and let the rest of the house break at the 4' edge. The rest of the house will be butt strapped to what I can get don...

Re: Tug Along 18

Last night I finished the glass work inside the house, I added an additional strip of 12oz biaxel tape above the chine. I also rolled on a little primer in the v berth. All this work up to this point and I roll a little primer and it starts to look like a boat. Lol.

I have the decks faired and ready for the final coat of epoxy. I also got my cockpit drains and thru hulls. The drains were donated to me by the Virginia V foundation.

Re: Tug Along 18

I got the majority of the sanding of the decks and sole of the cabin done. I also got the rear sections of the bulwarks glued in, I still have to glass it and do some more sanding. But it's coming together slowly.
