That's a good question. I typically only work with old growth long leaf pine and cypress, mostly reclaimed and used to build furniture. I would think that long leaf pine or cypress would be great for framing???? I'm in the final stages of a canoe build with sinker cypress strips, looks GREAT! I'm ge...

Hello guys! Tried steam bending my scuppperd cypress inwales yesterday. My canoe design has very recurved stems and a pretty severe up swing at the bow and stern so I wanted to steam bend my inwales before I tried glueing them in. The inwales are 3/4 X 3/4" and are tapered to 1/4" starting...

Hello Alycat!

I was thinking about using the Royal Mahogany as well for my build. I have a local supplier near my home that sells it for $3.50bf for 4q and $3.60 for 8q. What did you decide to do??

HaHa!!!! I guess that would be the smart thing to do. The Tahoe would probably run/ride better???? But I still like the looks of the Belle Isle. Billy - I LOVE your Belle Isle, I'd love to see it in person! I'm working to finish my canoe so I can get started on a real boat, can't wait!!

Hello all! I'm new to this site and hoping to get some tips and advice as I start my new journey. My new journey is either building the Belle Isle 23 or the Tahoe 23. I prefer the Belle Isle because of its classic lines but my wife prefers the lines on the Tahoe, will be making that decision soon so...
