Re: 14' Drifter in West Bloomfield Michigan

Hi Nivek,

Check your private messages. I have a couple questions on your breasthook and stem.

Re: 14' Drifter in West Bloomfield Michigan

Your stem and mine look nearly identical, which leads me . Your breasthook looks better- cleaner and absolutely flush with the stem. I had a hard time getting the varied angles between the glued section and the top front section (I believe one was a 25 degree and the other @ 45 degree) to blend nice...

Re: 14' Drifter in West Bloomfield Michigan

Hey Nivek, Looks great. You put as much care into the boat as you did building frame and it's going to be beautiful. I am in about the same spot. Just mounted the transom today. I will work on the stem and breasthook a bit tomorrow. I went with marine douglas fir ply and white oak for the transom fr...

Re: Transom - 14' Drift boat

I am also starting the 14' drifter. I have the setup, form A,B, and C, and the transom built so far. My transom will be three layers thick (two layers of 1/2" ply and one layer 3/4" hardwood). I will put the last layer of 1/2" ply on after the longitudinals and side planking. I started with 1/2" pl...

Transom - 14' Drift boat

Okay… So I have built the frame and forms for the 14' Drift Boat (wife bought me plans for Christmas) and I am at the point of buying the epoxy kits, fasteners, and planking. The plans call for a 1" x 3", 4" and 5" Transom Frame - My question: is this frame in addition to two layers of 1/2 " plywood...

Re: 14' Drifter in Oregon

Okay. I am building the forms and set up frame, and here are my first questions- I have Doug Fir and Okoume marine grade plywoods locally available for the planking. As the transom assembly needs to be started on the set up frame, I am planning to buy the plywood for the entire boat at one time. The...

14' Drifter in Oregon

My wife just bought me plans for the 14' Drift Boat. I guess she thinks I have idle time on my hands. Parked the truck outside and am converting the garage bay to a shop.

Never done this before, should be fun. Sure I'll have lots of 'first timer' questions.
