Re: 2015 Gathering G-9

I heard cabin 11 almost tipped over. :D :D   John, you heard right! It was great to meet up with everyone this weekend. My dad and I had a great time and look forward to coming back down next year. Only got about 3 hours of sleep last night before coming into work, so I'll try to get some...

Hi, welcome to the forum. I am also in CT, and have found a couple of lumber suppliers that are local. You can check out some of the suggested suppliers here: http://www.glen-l.com/resources/lumber-suppliers.html#CT I also know of a supplier in Danielson (http://www.mcilvain.com/ctlumber) that may b...

Re: Hales Bar Cabins Reservation List

Hey Everyone, After a lot of internal debate and some encouragement from Neel and my wife, I am making (very) last minute plans to attend the Gathering this year. Before I call to book a cabin, I wanted to check if anyone has a room/bed/couch available that was looking to split the cost? I will be c...

Mahogany Planking over Plywood Skin

Hey Everyone, Looking into a few designs and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on strength of mahogany planks over plywood skin. I'm looking at the Bravado and it has 3/8" plywood sides. If I were to put 1/8" mahogany over it, could I reduce the plywood skin to 1/4" so the to...

Re: Fuel consumption Tahoe

There was a builder at the Woodenboat show in Mystic this year that had a 19 Tahoe that they built in a utility design.

It was great to see it in the water next to Neel's gentry.

From Iggy: If you don't have a syringe.. a zip-lock bag cut narrowly on one corner like they do for icing a cake can work, it just comes out really fast and not...

I agree with both points. It is not wise to exceed the rating of a vehicle, and Murphy always seems to show up at the worst time. Personally I wouldn't have made the trip with that vehicle, but I did think it was an interesting review of the performance of the vehicle that you might not hear otherwi...

Bill, A coworker recently let his son borrow his new Toyota Tacoma with the TRD V6 package to tow a trailer out to Colorado from CT. The trailer weighed in at around 6000# which is more than the Tacoma was rated for. He brought the truck in for a check up after the trip and the dealer didn't identif...
