Re: G'day from Blenheim, New Zealand

Hi Grady

There are a few Glen-L builders in NZ but not many. I think the Nomad would look great with a classic style deck.
Im in Auckland so not able to help with any timber info for your area.
I am also about to do the deck on my zip. I plan to use sapele and cedar.

Re: Brendons Zip Build

I have completed the following items, floor, sideboards/armrests, seats, motor well, sub deck framing, and the sub deck for the bow. Im currently working on ...

Re: How to drill holes in the transom without wrecking the paint?

Thanks for the tips.
I dont want water to damage the transom, that would be hard to fix!
I was hoping there might be an easier way but looks like this will be it.

Re: How to drill holes in the transom without wrecking the paint?

Ok thanks. Amy suggestions about drilling oversize then filling with epoxy and drilling again or are there other options?
How have people ensured the drain tubes dont allow water to penetrate the transom around the outside edges?

How to drill holes in the transom without wrecking the paint?

I am needing to drill some holes in my transom for drain tubes from the motor well. (I will also need to drill some for the motor mount later) As I have already painted the hull and framed in the motor well I am reluctant to drill oversized holes so that I can fill it with epoxy and redrill the actu...

Re: Brendons Zip Build

Oh yeah, I agree Joshua is where you want to go to see the costs. He has done a great job tracking his time and costs.
Its in USD and being in the states has access to alot more suppliers but its a great guide anyway.

Re: Brendons Zip Build

Hi Charles, Yeah I understand your dilemma, I chose the Zip for a couple of reasons, 1) I liked the look of it 2) It seemed like it was achievable to build 3) it is a size that I can manage and fit inside my carport while building it. 4) It has an outboard so I didnt need to worry about mechanics to...

Re: Hello to all from Wellington, New Zealand

I used about three coats of epoxy over the cloth (It did seem like alot) then used an orbital sander and longboard to go over it. I also used a high build primer undercoat and again used the longboard to get it flat.
