Ten Guys Can Lift and Move a 20’ Up a Hill
Down at Smith Mountain Lake, VA visiting a friend. Helped a guy move his upside down hull out of his shed, up a hill and mounted on his trailer. He will then transport it to Colorado and finish. Glad I participated as it demonstrated I can build my Malahini under my semi-finished deck and then trans...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater
Captain Dave, good selection on the batteries. I replaced my Interstates with new ones last year, after 9 years and hundreds of runs. My Duffy 21 is a 48 volt, so, I got to buy 8 new ones. Fortunately, COSTCO had a really good price on them. Hope to have my boat built before I ever have to buy batte...

Re: Howdy From Cincinnati and Virginia
Welcome, I am from Lake Monticello, outside of Charlottesville. I hace a 2002 Duffy Electric boat with a 48 volt motor. At 21', I get a whopping 6 mph no matter the number of passengers for a 4,000 boat. There is some calculation used for displacement boats: http://www.boats.com/reviews/crunching-nu...

Re: Finished weight of Tahoe 23 and Belle Isle
I think it depends on the roads and distances you expect to travel. About ten years ago I bought a Duffy Electric Catamaran in Chicago and drove it to Virginia via the PA Turnpike. Not a fun drive of 700 miles with one tire straddling the white lines, while being passed by semis.

2004 Magazine
I took my Mother to a doctors office in NC today and the magazine rack included a copy of the 2004 NC Boating Lyifestyle magazine. Someone above must have told me it is time. Flipping through I found this.

Gayle, thanks for including the finished boat drawing with the plans? We framed it and it up in my family room today.

24 Hours later, these docs are great. But, my wife made me remove the plans from the dining room table. I really need to find an old frame for the picture drawing.

Re: Twin motors - Why?
I agree with Bill about twin engines not being worth it. I had a Pursuit with twin 225s (25 GPH each). When I blew a piston, I got to return 15 miles home in South Florida sunshine and humidity at 4-5 MPH.

Re: Flats Flyer Build in S.C.
Great point about having zero soft spots. I know when I used to sail on big boats, the first question when I came on board was "Where can I step?" Because I fish a lot off my dock, all my rod holders and cleats are the flush mount kind. Four years and zero broken toes

A little late telling everyone. But, COSTCO has really good deals on batteries. After ten years, I had to replace my electric boat batteries. At $147 per battery for 8 batteries, the COSTCO price of $84 saved me a lot, which I can then use for Malahini bling.

In addition to taxes, our lake has an annual license fee tied to length and horse power, up to $350 per year. My 21' Duffy Electric boat is only $30.
