Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
Not much changing here, everything is in slow motion. Verizon seems to be back in service making it easier to let everyone know how we’re doing. I know insurance has to deal with hundreds of claims, but it would be nice if they let us know status every few days instead of us having to call them. Goo...

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
We made it out with no injuries but the house took a hit. Not as bad as some, but insurance will take care of what needs to be fixed.
Thanks to all who checked on us.

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
I’ll have to look when I get back from TDY but I’m pretty sure I used the dimensions on the plans then tapered them going forward and equally spacing them. In other words I believe it was 7” near the transom then 5”-6” forward. I’ll try to remember a picture as well.

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
I did, but only because I stretched the hull to 19 feet.
I'm really hoping that I can get back on this build, but work has me out of town for a couple weeks again.

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
Yeah Bill, he's in Port St John. I wish he was in St Joe, then I'd have a fishing buddy with a boat already.
But I'm sure once I finish this, I'll have plenty of "buddies".

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Panama City FL
Hey Tom, I probably should get this thread renamed or start a new one. I moved from Orlando to Panama City about 2 years ago. ' The build restart has been stalled due to honey-dos that were put off until the shop was built. Hope to get started in about a month, if my work schedule lets me. I've been...

I suppose it's my software engineering and aircraft mechanic background. You are a Software Engineer, Bill is a Civil/Structural Engineer, I am an Electrical Engineer, any other Engineers out there? Carl did you fix planes in the service? I was an avionics tech in the Marines, must be something abo...

Re: Mini Laser-Cut Boat
I have a Carvewright woodworking CNC that might be perfect for making a pattern. If anyone is interested, once I get the shop set up (in the next couple weeks), I'd be happy to make something to be used for someone as a trial. I am NOT looking to make any money off this and right now I have plenty o...

I'm in Florida, of course it willhoodman wrote:Really nice! Is it going to have air?

I'll have a window unit just to keep it somewhat comfortable during the summer. But the shade and luxury of not having to carry tools/materials in and out every time I work on the boat are a God send.

Those TDYs always come up at bad times. I just returned from a week long TDY to Laughlin AFB, could have been working on the shed but no, Air Force needs come first!

Couple photos of the finished boat shed. Interior painting will be wrapped up by this weekend, then watch out. I don't know where all my power tools will be sitting, so for now, just extension cords running through the rafters.

Re: FF in Kathleen GA
I notched the transom before laminating it and placed the battens roughly parallel to the keel. Marked their location, then cut the frame notches. I did laminate a couple of the longer battens, locating the joint as far aft as possible. You'll have a pretty wicked bend in them up near the bow, so av...

Re: Flats Flyer Build in Orlando
Nice, but how do you pull the camper and boat? Passed final inspection yesterday. Power went in last week, but no 220, yet, but need it for my table saw & dust collector. Want to paint inside walls/floor first then do electrical. Probably going to be a lot of cords until I figure out where I want to...
