Re: Anybody ever set up solar power on their boat? Any ideas what would be needed?

Thinking about solar? What is your daily load in kilo-watt-hours? Lets say you have 2- 100 watt solar panels. On a clear summers day let us assume you will have 8 hours of good sunlight and you are optimistically able to produce an average of 80 percent of peak power over that period. 200 watts x 80...

Welcome fire01 from Ohio,

The Playpen is a nice little deck boat I have thought about building before. Good luck and I will look forward to seeing you progress.

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

All USPS members get the magazine. The heading on the Ensign home page rotates between the feature articles.
A lot of people are definitely going to see the Amp Eater.

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

The Aquatron Amp Eater is in the spotlight. See my article that was published in the United States Power Squadron publication "The Ensign." I wrote the article last fall for our local Columbus Power Squadron newsletter "Galley Gossip." The National Organization picked it up to runin the fall edition...

Re: 2018 Report

We had a great time at G-12 this year. We even had Peter and Sara come halfway around the world to ride in the Aquatron. SaraAndPeterAquatron2.jpg Monday morning just after sunrise Melissa and I prepared for one last cruise before we packed up to return to Columbus. The Hales Bar Dock was extremely ...

Wayne, Yes. the gray strip is a the metal tag they gave me at the Division of Watercraft with the Hull Identification Number. Also have one inside the boat in a less obvious place. That tag has been on the boat since it's first launch. The Milfoil can have strands several feet long and can be tough ...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

G-12 was a great success. the Aquatron gave several rides and made the trip to the dam. It was a 2-1/2 hour round trip fro the Aquatron due to strong current and milfoil wrapping on the prop, but all in all, a pleasant trip. Aquatron at the dock at G-12.jpg Check out my new Transom Lettering. The fi...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

rleete, I only have one battery bank, 4- Interstate 232 AH 6V batteries in series for a total of 24 volts. The battery bank is engaged by the solenoid on the motor controller. The polarity is reversed for forward and reverse by the contactors on the right side of the motor control board. Those are c...
