Re: Zip - Best Contemporary Classic, Lexington, Michigan

Congratulations on the award. Your ZIP certainly is deserving. It is a beautiful example of craftsmanship.

Re: Tubby Tug head start

Yes, I would love to go get it if I could do it in a weekend. My wife wants me to build one for the grand kids. It will be a great beginning for someone to get started in boat building.

Re: Food

Melissa and I would be happy to make bacon and scrambled eggs one morning. I'm not sure which day is best. We are coming in on Thursday afternoon.
We will also have a crock pot full of meatballs for Saturday.

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Thanks Joe. I appreciate the compliment. The credit goes to Glen L Whit for the beautiful lines he gave this boat and for the easy to follow instructions. The simple elegance of this design is what kept me coming back to the amp eater as my first choice to build. If there is anyone out there who is ...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Stephen,
Thanks for the detail on building your top. I hope to tackle that later this summer.
Did you paint the PVC blue or did you get it that way? Your Deck really turned out nice.
It appears you have removable hatch covers. Do you have some kind of latch to hold them down?

Wow! A 2018 Model year Bo-Jest. That is good motivation to finish up. I look forward to the splash party.

Re: Trolling motor powered Amp Eater?

Hey Hogwild, is that your lovely Amp Eater posted yesterday on the Glen-L facebook page?
Nice job. The ETM (electric trolling motor) mount looks great. How does it perform? I like your steering console.

Re: Where to buy boat insurance?

I have Hagerty Marine Insurance for my Amp Eater. I told them it was from glen-l plans, they asked to see some construction photos of which I have plenty, and in three days the underwriters approved the policy. It was pretty easy.

Looks like you need to build another boat. I hear sanding is great exercise...

Sounds like a plan to me...

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

Here we are at the Charles Mill Lake boat launch. The Aquatron is taking on important passengers. We cruised around the 1300 acre lake 2-1/2 times in the course of 4 hours logging nearly 20 miles. It reached 91 degrees but cruising at 5.2 mph gave sufficient breeze. (the fat guy with the wide brimme...

Yea! I like the book rack idea. If I am ever allowed to build a Bo-jest it's going to have a book rack too!

Re: Solar powered Amp Eater

I will have all the touch ups below the water line done. Scraping bottom is the price I pay for being adventurous. (I think that perhaps is the reason for the oak shoe on the skeg)
I wanted to get the boat in the water anyway - It's been over 6 months on dry land.
