Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

Made a little progress today. Got some ash on friday afternoon so I begin to work on the floor. Just laid in place but I was anxious to see what it might look like:)

Re: Building a Malahini

I did almost the same thing. I had purchased a hand power planer. So I cut my transom and just added about 1/2 inch to be safe. Once mounted to the building frame it is so much easier to see. I then hand planed it close and used a belt sander to finish it out. So much easier to see and I was able to...

Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

I am actually playing with the idea (early stages) of a flat bench front seat that will be upholstered. I am looking at fabricating a set of the old bindec double reversible hinges. I can't find these anywhere but I think I can make a couple. The front seat backs (individually) would then be hinged ...

Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

Thanks Jimmy and Peter. I had not noticed the dash position on the drawings so I will take another look. I am working on a mock up of the seat now and I have read your previous post about the seat angle. I have several saved notes for this. Not sure on the steering system yet so I am so glad you guy...

Re: Damage to Malahini

Sorry to hear about this Matt. Your boat and your work is awesome. You certainly did a great job on the repair and gave me a better idea for the ladder. I appreciate you sharing this, we all learned from this.

Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

To set the record straight, the chair in the photo was for a picture only. I did sit on a block of wood about 7 inches above frame three when planning the seat placement. I realize sitting as high as the chair would be a little breezy:) I should have waited to judge the funny comments:)

Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

I am now trying to figure out the dash placement. I puzzled over this once before and never really reached a resolution so I laid it aside. Can someone who is ahead of me tell me if my seat placement sounds about right and then my dash is based off of that. I have been sitting in the boat (and daydr...

Re: New Malahini Build "Finally"

made progress on the motor well also. I did use non-marine plywood for the motor well sides and deck however, I plan to coat with one coat of epoxy and then epoxy 1/4 marine plywood on top of that to make it look better.

Re: Post Flip Mahalini Questions

Thank you all. I was able to drill the holes out last night. Undersized at first then I shaped and cleaned up with a dremmel. Looks like they were there all along now. I am doing some coating of the inside panels today and doing a few touch up filets to make sure there are not gaps. More photos to c...

Re: Post Flip Mahalini Questions

I appreciate the feedback. I think I will do the thickened epoxy tomorrow. I have been studying but I think I can drill out a smaller than desired hole for the limber and then use a dremmel took to slowly shape as desired. Thank you
