Re: Inboard Shaft Holes - (Glen-L Wants to Pick Your Brains)

As a segue from this topic. What is the general opinion of the clearance required between shaft and sides of finished hole?

Re: Audeen Engine

Hi Marcus,

Below is the setup for my ski king. It went in easily and there are a couple of suppliers in Oz that carry the marinising gear for the Holden V6. Let me know if you need any help finding them.

Re: Fitting Plywood panels

Thanks a lot. I have been using a similar method but not quite as qick and simple. Very timely also as I am doing cabin sole and ceilings at the moment.

Re: Monthly Riviera Update - February

Nice work. No wonder you couldn't get to that engine, you are too quick at building boat around it!

Re: My SkiKing build

Hi Dave, I'm working on the theory of fitting everything around the motor so that I can make the most of the space when I build the engine box. I will build it so that I can get at it for servicing/maintenance. I will then remove the motor, paint and detail it and then do the final install. I hope t...

Re: My SkiKing build

Hard to believe I know but no engine noises yet.

Dave, do you mean around the motor or around the shed?

Re: My SkiKing build

Just a quick update.
Fitted engine about 2 weeks ago, now working on cabin soles have most of the sole beams done, and half of the templates.

Re: First pictures - Ski King

Dwain, I agree with you on that one. I have 3/8" also but with glass over. Sinnce turning the boat have decided to glue in an extra row of intermediary battens between. Can't hurt.

Re: Boarding Ladder

That is great. The boat looked pretty good too! I think I will be going with the swim platform. I had intended to use a mast type track to make a pair of slide in brackets. They would sit below the water line so could really only be seen when the boat is moving or on the trailer. your steps have go ...

Re: First pictures - Ski King

Very nice work. I used 5mm planking on mine which comes down to about 4 with fairing. I also spaced mine at each frame, scribed a line for each with a batten and cut each plank to its line. I did this so that the boat would appear to be traditionally planked. If you don't the effect is that the plan...

Re: Sad, Sad, Sad Story...Really want to Scream!!!!

I feel that pain, I had a couple of unsatisfactory fibreglass layups over the cedar planking on my boat. Had to sand it all off both sides twice before I got it right on the last go. It basically cost me the year as I don't get a lot of time off. After the second attempt went wrong I spent some time...

Re: My SkiKing build

I bought a wreck boat a while ago and will just rework the trailer to suit the ski king. I haven't though too much about the trailer yet, too many hurdles to get over before it becomes an issue.

Re: My SkiKing build

Thanks Dwain, I have to say I really like the detail on your hull it gives it that Happy Days hotrod look. Do you have moon discs on the trailer as I think that would really set it off. Personally, I was after a more traditional look and I think the ski king lets you go either way. I probably would ...
