Re: Its over

That is certainly a pretty picture to wake up to however I do not think I would be able last very long in that kind of weather.
I am sure that by now you chaps have got used to the extremes of weather.

Transducer on aluminum boats

What is correct method to fit a transducer to an aluminum hull like the Jimbo?
Hull material is 3/16" or 5mm aluminum. I understand how it is done on plywood/glassfibre boats but do not recall seen how it is done metal boats.

Beautiful boat, is the wood used Brazilian, if so what is it.
What is it about Sao Paulo traffic that you produce two brilliant F1 drivers like Felipe Massa and Reubens Barrichello?

Re: splitting dryed maple with an axe

You got me there man, I know precious little about North American timber other than I hear discussed on the forum. When it comes to African timbers I am a little more informed. I am sorry but you will have to figure out on your own which specie of Oak you have. Good luck. I have my preferences with ...

Re: splitting dryed maple with an axe

Pardon my ignorance but is Maple not some exotic wood used for fine furniture work, and here you guys are using it for firewood. "Never mind the expense give the cat another Goldfish" scenario.

Re: Global Warming My Foot

I am sitting down here in Southern Africa with one of the worst droughts in living memory, with severe water restrictions and the possibility of running out of water in our area before the World Cup soccer extravaganza and I read some deep deep stuff on this forum. I do not prescribe to the global w...

American Ice Age

I have been following with interest the cold weather gripping every state except Hawai. What have you guys done to incur the wrath of the weather gods. We are faced with serious water restrictions in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and our water supply is expected to run out by July. Maybe these pict...

Re: Miscellaneous

Thanks for the input. I am sorry if I stirred up some bad memories, it was not intentional. As my boat is the aluminum Jimbo my thoughts were to mount the valve right at the inlet/ thru hull fitting, this way any leaks that could occurr would be on the " safe side" of the installation. I understand ...

Is there such a thing as a solenoid valve that could be operated off a switch that would open and allow the live well pump to draw water and close again once the pump is switched off My thinking is fitting one on the inlet to the live well pump that would only open once the pump is switched on. Then...

Re: Iron Wood, hey you down under guys!

We have Olea Africana "Wild Olive" in Southern Africa also known as Iron wood. There are var. subspecies. Some of this timber is much sought after for furniture and we have some outstanding examples of pulpits in Dutch Reformed churches in South Africa. It is a hard heavy timber used in the early da...
