Re: Who's Going and Where

Good morning to all, D and I had an awsome time. Enjoyed meeting everyone and what a friendly group. I am in awe at all the absolutely beautiful boats on the water. Looking forward to next year. Although I must agree with most of you, docks do need a lot of attention! Hope to see you next year. Ter...

Re: Who's Going and Where

We had a great time bringing the Zip this year, we had fun taking people for rides in the Zip, even a couple that plan to start building a Zip in the near future. The best part is for me my wife didn’t get mad at me this year and even got to do Karaoke with me and others. Sadly the new owners faile...

Boating, cooking, singing, etc....Heather and I had lots of fun with our Glen L friends, it’s such as nice quiet get away. Boating on this section of the Tennessee River is beautiful.

Re: Squirt Frame 2 - Lost already !

You are looking at two separate pieces. Yes, the piece of frame where the yellow pencil is pointing ends there. The blue pointer is the floor timber (separate piece of wood). The whole frame is 5 pieces plus the 2 gussets. It will all make sense when you cut your pieces out and assemble them. You’re...

Re: Joel Bauer’s Coronado (Laurel Lynn)

Hi Joel, Congratulations on getting started, I’ll be watching your build as I plan to build a Nor’wester (same hull as Coronado) when I finish my Barrel-back. I’ve never read anything about stretching a hull changing the waterline. To me, the waterline of a boat is where it is when I finish the boat...

Re: Hello from Texas

Yes, You can open up the cockpit of a Barrel-back. There’s nothing structural about the beam between the seats. If you stretch the hull to 20ft you’ll have about 5 1/2- maybe 6ft from the dash to the back seat. The Key-Largo is the same hull but in a utility configuration, more room but not as sexy....

Re: Malahini from MD

Installing an outboard is no big deal if you have an engine hoist or a gantry.

Re: Brisbane Squirt

I make templates out 1/4” plywood. They are easy to make because you can lay the plans out on a full sheet of plywood and make an accurate transfer. I too use my wife’s dressmaker wheel and carbon paper. Once the plywood templates are cutout they can be easily checked for accuracy against the plans....

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Jim,
my experience using my car engine hoist to do anything with the boat engine was, it is useless. It doesn’t have the capability to reach over the sheer and lift the engine straight up. It drags to the side as it lifts. So don’t dismantle your gantry to soon, mine is still up.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Way to go Jim, I’ve been waiting on this day from you. Your gantry makes mine look like popsicle sticks, you could lift the whole boat and trailer with that beast!
Good luck with the engine fit, there are sure to be minor fit issues.

Re: Malahini from MD

I wrestled with these exact questions 3 years ago and for me the answer is: buy the bigger engine and have enough power for the day you have 5 adults in the boat or pulling up a 200 lb skier. The used 90hp market is plentiful because guys bought an under powered bass boat to save money and now they ...
