Re: Matt's Geronimo

I never seem to be able to find the color I want when trying to match non-stained mahogany. Ive had good luck though mixing stain colors to make a custom one. Just make sure you write down the ratio of each so you can repeat the process when needed. Usually "Gunstock" color is the base, mi...

Re: console skiff power

Id like to see what one would do with a modern 25hp motor. I think it would do pretty well if not overloaded.

Re: MI Malahini questions

Should work out when you put the bottom planking on. If its stiff enough it wont lay down with the planking in place I would just fair it before installing the bottom planking.

Re: Mercury outboard coils???

Thanks Bill, The marineengine site had a detailed enough parts list which actually included canadian serial numbers, unlike all the other sites I had visited. It shows the canadian motors coils are indeed a different part number and according to them cannot cross reference with the newer (less expen...

Mercury outboard coils???

Wondering if anyone can help me confirm some part numbers for replacement coils of my vintage mercury. I have a 1975-ish Mercury 402, 40hp. Serial number 7038781 = (Canadian). I show the coil as a 339-5288 part number. Those are quite expensive for new ones. I have to believe there is a superseded p...

Re: Anyone built the Olympian?

There does not seem to be any evidence online that anyone has built one. Looks like a great boat for that task.

Ride the river in the rain in an enclosed cabin? Absolutely, count me in! Ride at 30mph at night with barely a windshield? Nah!
