Re: Thank YOU.

We would be up for Lake Powell as well. It would give some of the west coast (left coast) builders a chance to get together

1950's kit boats

Does anyone recall a kit boat from the 50's that was kitted in so. cal. called the "Champion Saber" It was available in 12', 14' 16' variants. I built a couple of the 14' boats in the 50's but I havn't seen anything since then. It was a very nice running outboard runabout.

Re: Chine Strip

Hi George,
When I built my first Zip in 1956 those spray rails were known as
"SURE TRIPS" The reason for this is if you cross a wake the wrong way in a tight turn it was a good way to catch the chine and over she goes.
Just food for thought.

Re: Wood Putty

Hi Chris.
Try making a paste from sanding dust mixed with epoxy. You will need to play with it to get a good color match. Suggest taking scrap from planking and try different combinations to get the best match.
Hope this helps.

Re: Zip won't trim

It is more than likely a CG problem. On our Zip we have a much lighter motor 120 lbs, the fuel tank is right behind the seat and the garden tractor battery is under the seat. Even with that the motor is in the last notch to get a smooth plane. A video of our Zip with this set up. Hope this helps. Che...
