Re: Mixing Epoxy

During the time I was building my boat, I had a family member spend some time in the hospital. Drinks of all sorts were served with the same type of cups. All day, all night...the same style cup. After a few days, something in my head went *BINGO*, and I started retrieving these from the garbage! Th...

Re: Tranferring plans to wood

By no means am I saying that what I did is "right" or "better"....just that it worked for me. First, I started with carbon paper & making lines method. What a mess. I abandoned that immediately. Then I started to poke with pins. Nope. So I bought a roll of tracing paper, and laid it over my plans an...

Re: Boat Cover Batten wood?

Oh yeah! 1/2" Sched40 for the win! https://i.postimg.cc/tJ0z3ymS/battens-sched40_-_1.jpg I heated the ends with a heat gun, then pressed the softened pipe between 2 metal plates. As it was hardening, I lifted up on the pipe to give a slight bend to the now-flattened end. Then I sawed the ends to len...

Boat Cover Batten wood?

Not sure what sub-forum this belongs in, but I figured it would get the most traction here. MODS: Feel free to move as needed. What do all of you use to make boat cover battens? These are mine, they're made from leftover 1/4" Meranti plywood. They're 2 years old and showing their age badly. The one ...

Re: Pee Wee in Maine

This posting is about a month overdue, and for that I apologize. During our vacation my wife & I scooted down from "our end" of the lake down to "283's end of the lake", and had a very nice, albeit way too short, meeting with Mr. 283. His boat is very cool & completely awesome. Obviously a great dea...

Re: Transporting lumber

My Sapele plywood came from Boulter. I drove from NJ to Boston and picked it up with my pickup truck. Very pleasant buying experience. Boulter is a fairly unimpressive place, but they have a ton of stuff! That said, call ahead & make absolutely sure that they have exactly what you want in stock befo...

Re: Potential Audeen build

FH = Flat head Somehow, "Stainless" gives the impression that it's the greatest substance known to man. Not at all true. First & foremost, it disintegrates in the absence of oxygen. Once you "bury" the screw in the wood & cover with epoxy & fiberglass, the countdown begins. Next, it's not all that s...

Re: Audeen swim platform

I hope this thread gets some traction, as I'm interested in a platform of some type for my Ski-Tow.... I'm not sure my boat lends itself to such, but I'm thinking I could make something that's small, but enough for a skier to "get a knee up" to aid in re-boarding. I have ideas in my head, all of whi...

I've had a tough, tough couple of months at work (project management / construction) and I *NEED* that sunset! I can't wait!

I'll PM you with my contact info.....if you want to meet up for boating / ice cream, I'm game!

Re: Pee Wee in Maine

Do you have a launch date yet? Will it be on Androscoggin?

We're driving up 7/14 and will be there (with the boat!) for 2 weeks.....
