Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build

As I'm sure everyone here can relate, at times it feels as though I'm moving at a snail's pace with my build. I just try and remind myself that slow and steady continuous work is better than nothing! Here are a couple of fun pictures I found of one of my grandpa's first (non-rotting) boats. He'd enc...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Lookin Sharp! I think you could use either a thin rubber base (see attached photo) or possibly cut out a wood platform for it to sit on, flat on the top but concave on the bottom to fit to the deck.

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Your build is really coming along! What dimensions did you go with for the motorwell?

Re: Bow notching on malahini

Hey Footer, I had similar issues with my build at the stern. Because the ply can take the slight compound curve it buckled inwards a tad. You can see in the picture where these low spots were and how I "fixed" it with some fairing compound. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/yRjJ0SpA1wtQ3rF...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Matt, do you remember how much paint you used for your bottom? You mentioned about 12oz per coat, and about 5 coats..so almost 2 full quarts?

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

As always, your attention to the smallest of details is amazing! Also, do you by chance remember how much paint you used for your bottom? just trying to gauge how much I'll need.

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build

Thank you Bryan & Matt, I really want to get this thing flipped while still maintaining a level of finish I'll be happy with. No sense in rushing only to regret not taking that little bit more time in prep.

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Looks really good Matt! Yes, I believe that there is a way to set the maximum tilt angle on outboards. How wide did you end up going for the motorwell opening? I've been spending a lot of time thinking about where I want my fuel tank to go. I'm putting a rear bench just in front of the motorwell, at...

Re: Fraser's Sea Knight Build

Thanks for the advice Carl, I think I will go ahead and get a couple more casters for the middle. would be a shame if something was to happen and that was the reason. I spent a couple hours this afternoon beginning to prep for paint. Managed to get the bottom all sanded and ready to go, just have to...

Re: Fraser's Sea Knight Build

As I've waited for the final coat of epoxy to gas out I've spent quite a bit of time running my hand over the boat looking for any little imperfections (or rather big imperfections...cause there are tons of little ones) that need to be sanded. I've very happy with how the hull looks and can't wait t...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

While I know that this is for the Yamaha 70, it should give you a better idea of dimensions required.

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Bob, your boat is amazing.

I love how simple and clean you've kept everything. Does the bilgekote covered floor get slippery when it gets wet?

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build

Because Matt and Carl asked so nicely, I figured I had to post a quick update! Spray Rails have been cut, fitted, and glued! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2-beA_-ep7EbGX9YfH2CFxwQp-w17tFsF7_Gkwmum3lRMkthJ6DLHMzSIUQtuo4BdK33_SWsLtNMdH-jwh5ZP_hFz5AUStPhVp565OaWf9n8xL_rzmfF3LnituSShJ_nDmytPwqo-I9gS...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Great job Matt, love seeing the creative use of old diaper boxes!

Also, your continued posting has helped keep me going on my own build (little by little). So close to being ready to prime and paint the bottom and then FLIP!
