Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
Thanks Footer. The hull colour you see there is actually just the primer. But I agree, the more I look at it the more I might have to paint it a grey!

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
Hello Everyone, It's been at least 6 months since I last posted a check-in. Unfortunately, a week after flipping the hull over my grandfather passed away. Since then I'd tried my best to work on the boat but if I'm honest it just wasn't the same without having him there. After several months of thin...

Re: Matt's Geronimo
what thickness of ply are you using for the bench? Very interesting idea to reduce the amount of hardware, it definitely starts to add up quickly!

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
I'm curious about how you accomplished the 4" widening of the beam on your Sea Knight. Thanks Doug, isn't making the boat you want what it's all about?! For widening the beam I very carefully extended each full-sized pattern 2inches at the keel, following the curve of each frame. But that's what ma...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
Thanks so much everyone! It sure was a great afternoon and I can't wait to actually start building again! Yes Carl, it's actually amazing how much of the worrying is for not when flipping your boat. I chalk this up to all the great feedback and wealth of information that is on the forum to pull from...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
What a SUNDAY! Here are a few pictures from the big flip. I have to say it was so much fun getting to see the inside of the hull after staring at the outside for such a long time. Definitely could not have gone any smoother, huge thanks to everyone on the forum for their support! Can't wait to get g...

Re: SEA KNIGHT
Great to hear from you Craig! I would look into the various quick release deck fittings that are out there or as Carl suggested maybe look into some sort on locking hinge. That way it could just fold down when not in use.

Re: Stephens Zip
Welcome Stephen! Happy to see another young guy joining the forum and building a boat! It's such an awesome experience and I can't say enough about how supportive the Glen L forum/community is. Nothing gets your butt in gear to work on your boat better than seeing someone else posts an update or whe...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
Thanks, everyone! Yesterday was such an exciting day, and all I did was pull it out of the garage! Provided I get the roll cradle built tonight the plan is to roll the boat tomorrow evening! Here are a couple pictures of her out in the sun! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ZYoEfLjpq-j-gV4YpiIc-YSVG...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
The big push to the flip is on! It will be 2 years Aug 1st since I cut the first piece of wood for my build. What better way to celebrate two awesome years of fun than to flip her over, right? Last night I applied the second full coat of primer on the sides, this will get aggressively longboarded be...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
First coat of bottom paint went on the hull last night. note that I've decided to paint from the bottom down to the waterline from the bow back only up to where the waterline crosses onto the sides. I am using interlux mircon csc and was very happy with how the first coat turned out. It was quite wa...

Re: My (Sort Of) Sea Knight Build
As I'm sure everyone here can relate, at times it feels as though I'm moving at a snail's pace with my build. I just try and remind myself that slow and steady continuous work is better than nothing! Here are a couple of fun pictures I found of one of my grandpa's first (non-rotting) boats. He'd enc...
