All of the frames and stringers are ply. Those boats are really nice looking and they seem to know what they are doing. I would trust the ply if these guys do.

Plus the paint will have much better UV protection than colored epoxy. plus easier to renew later on it it needs to be touched up.

I don't think you'll really save any time or money with this approach, although I admire the willingness to think outside the box. But in this case I think the "box" is the correct way to go. I would come up with time saving methods to build he boat properly. For example, there are two of you, work ...

Yes, it's possible. You need a scanner that will scan that width and software to do it. I've done it a few times, it takes lots of time but it's fairly simple.

Rustoleum has a line of maine paint sold at Lowe's. Iv;es used in a couple of times and for an enamel paints it's pretty good and about $11 a quart.
