Re: Mast rake for a glenL 14

Typically, the top of building form is the level line. If this is the case, reference the point on the frames that sat on the building form.

Re: adding a rub rail to my Glen-l 15

If you have to curve AND twist the piece, I think you will have to steam it. Even thin strips will buckle under this scenario. I added a 1/4" "rub rail" along the sheer on my Squirt and I had to spile it (cut a curved piece) at the bow to handle the twist from the changing angle betwe...

Re: New Jet Squirt Builder. Thanks for all your future help!

Re: Pee Wee in Maine

That's a nice solution for the steering tube. I might even work for some older outboards.

You could always cut blocks of wood and epoxy them over the tube to hold it in place.

Welcome, Redhawk! It sounds like your skill set has all of the basics to get into boat building. +1 on the Glen L books noted above. The books are a great place to start, and there are many build threads of all types here on this site. There is a good chance any question you'll have has been answere...

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Hi Tucker, You probably already have the Douglas fir ply, but is switching to Okoume or Hydrotek an option? It might be a hit to the wallet right now, but will save you a lot of aggravation and give you piece of mind that the Douglas Fir is not cracking further under your epoxy. Depending on how muc...

Re: Starting my first build with a jet TNT

I'm glad to see you're finally cutting some lumber.

You really need to trek over to LL Johnson's, no problem finding clean, straight boards there.

Happy New Year!
