Re: Big runabout with jet propulsion?

Something else to think about is fuel burn. 2 jet ski motors will burn about a 50 %more fuel then a simlar displaced inboard.

Re: Trailering the first time

2 engine hoists works just fine too. Its just finding that second one that is always hard. Lift the front and the back. Slide the trailer in and set it down. You do normally have to do it at a sliglt angle to clear the front hoist, but not too hard. You do have to lift it so that the trailer fenders...

Re: Transferring plans to plywood

Levels are the only self testing tool. I have yet to find a framing square that was square out of the box. I have had good luck with starretts being close. They are not much more than the stardard squares you buy at the box stores( 25 instead of 20.) They were never ment to be that accurate in the 1...

Re: Transferring plans to plywood

also don;t trust framing square. they are normally off by a degree or two. you can fix them by taking a punch and dimpling them to "shrink" the metal to square them up. there are a few vids on youtube that explain the process. you can check them by using a fine point of a pencil and a true edge ( a ...

Re: Trailering the first time

You can also brace your joists with some temporary posts. (I like 2 2x6 one cut to exact length and the other longer to clamp/ screw into the joist) and use the big ratchet straps to lift the boat. I have done this many times over the years to take off as heavy has 5k# boats. You just have to make s...

Re: Sourcing Marine Grade Plywood

Shipping is expensive. Do you know any small business owners that have a "dock" ( raise platform where a truck can back up too) often shipping to those locations can cut the shipping cost in half.

Re: Screws stripping out pilot holes

Have you tried with out the clutch? For hardwoods i found my inpact driver works far better for getting almost to the emd then a bit brace or a screw driver i cam get a wrench on for extra torque to finish it.

Re: Hammer dents

you can try steaming them out by taking a damp towel and placing it over the dent and taking a warm iron too it. other wise a punch that is just smaller than the head works great.

That was right as i brought her cake to the table.

About 10 people there and another 25 on a zoom call.

Yes, i made that cake from scratch. The recipe is from her mother when they owned a bakery in san fransisco. It closed in 1906 when the building was leveled.
