Re: Monte Carlo swim platform

Swim platform and ladder worked well. Thanks for all the kind words.i 'll post some pictures from underneath. The hardest part was finding someone with a planer wide enough to take the raw piece after gluing. I used a three piece ladder. All brackets are fastened into solid lumber behind the transom.

Monte Carlo swim platform

Swim platform finally finished. Had my granddaughter and a bunch of her friends out last week. They decided they wanted to go swimming in the middle of the lake. They had a difficult time getting back in so finishing swim platform and ladder became a priority. 2A632757-A1D3-435C-B0ED-91D7C799D830.jp...

Re: Rudder authority

I have a Monte Carlo
Maneuvering in close quarters can be challenging. I’m looking at a stern thruster. Maybe I’ll have it done by the Gathering.

Re: Plywood

Okume is great stuff. I used it for just about all plywood requirements on my build. It is not rot proof. You will need to 100% seal it with epoxy to protect it. I used 4 oz cloth everywhere it will come into contact with water.

Re: Monte Carlo coverboards

The Monte Carlo was definitely a challenge. I think I used 4 or 5 boards on my cover boards. I also stained them with Sandusky walnut stain like the original. If I were doing it again I would use a water based stain. The stern was the most difficult. I’ll go take some pics and post them for you.

What’s this winterization thing y’all are talking about? I don’t think we have that in Florida.

Re: Converting an I/O motor to Inboard

You will need a starter, a bell housing, a flywheel and a flex plate to attach it to a transmission
Everything else should be usable.
