Re: kutter1's TNT

Hello, I would be interested in hearing about your Pennsylvania boat registration and inspection process. I'm in Pittsburgh and am building the Malahini with a 60 hp motor. With the boat about half done, I haven't started the title or registration process yet but will need to start that soon. Tom J

Re: Tinting VC Performance Epoxy Paint

Tom B. Unfortunately no new updates. Been some delays here in Squirrel Hill, my church has been doing a lot of support for our neighbors and that's been top of the list... I've put on the skeg and spray rails and will be priming everything over the next couple of days. I went ahead and bought the VC...

Re: Tinting VC Performance Epoxy Paint

Thank you both! I will check out the local SW dealer to see what they could do. I guess my main concern is if tinting the stuff will compromise its bonding ability and wear. Given that the stuff comes in white I'll test a sample with the color charts SW uses and see how it looks. I've heard good thi...

Tinting VC Performance Epoxy Paint

In a thread somewhere in here I read that someone said they had tinted Interlux VC Performance Epoxy (which is only sold in white). I want more of a cream color if that's possible for the bottom of my Malahini. The Interlux people do not recommend adding anything to their product. Does anyone here h...

Re: G-12 "Friday Lunch Run To Chattanooga"

Hi,
I would like to join for lunch. Don't know which boat will have room for me (would love to go in a Malahini to make mental notes for my build)

Problems with a dark paint color on hull?

I'm getting ready to fiberglass and then paint my plywood hull after deciding the putty fill holes and ply joints will expose my "basic" knowledge of plywood boat building if I leave it bright. I used a water based stain thinking it would hide those marks but it actually made it look worse. So, whil...

Re: chine sandwich on Malahini?

Thank you both... also for the advice on using a belt sander. I would have figured that out after ruining a blade on mine.

chine sandwich on Malahini?

I am having a hard time bending the 3/4" mahogany (Meranti) chine log on my frames. I was thinking of ripping them, attaching the first one then glue and attach the second piece on that, somewhat like the sheer. Would this present any problems with fairing and or structural strength?

Re: Who's Going and Where

Bill and Roberta, I'm planning on being there come hell or high water! Since I've started working on my boat I have a note book full of questions, mahogany dust everywhere and a garage that's now a dedicated boat construction zone (with a few gardening tools and bikes). If there is an open cabin aft...
