Re: Tucker's Squirt

Got the last and final board on! Now for tedious finishing work. Also an update on my previous posts/questions. I ended up ordering my seat cushions from affordablboatcusions.com. Simple cushions 2" thick and have a snap system on the bottom that keeps them in place for $275. I figured I would have ...

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Appreciate the responses. Will have to try it all out. Not real hopefully that the steam and water will help with this dent. Also not sure I want the cleats over the cover board seams but I’ll play around with it.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

I do have some of that but I feel like it still doesn't match well enough to keep it from grabbing my attention. Maybe I will experiment with it before I stick it in that dent.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

So I messed up my coverboard! After installing the front section I just happened to dent it with a tool right where the joint is. Quite upsetting! Does anyone have any ideas how to keep the joint from sticking out like a sore thumb? I think after it's filled with epoxy it'll still stick out and I'm ...

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Thanks, I think 1/8 in thick will do better with the curvature near the transom.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Where is everyone getting their seat cushions made for your boats? Also, I'm getting ready to install the plywood deck and then do deck planking. Is every one else using 1/4 inch thick deck planking or can it be planed down less than 1/4 inch? I'll post some recent pics of my boat since I still have...

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Ok, I'll use washers to fill the gap. Once I know how many washers I need I'll probably epoxy them together to make them into one solid washer to help keep me from dropping a bunch of washers and loosing them when trying to install the helm.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Ok so I'm at the stage of outfitting the squirt with steering, gauges, fuel etc. all of which I know nothing about and just learning as I go. Currently I'm trying to set up the teleflex steering. When I place the helm together I have this large gap between the steering wheel and bezel. I remember se...

Great looking squirt! My squirt is being painted the same colors except yours looks nicer with the grey stripe!

Re: Tucker's Squirt

I'll probably do the same thing with the voltmeter because I too want to have a bluetooth speaker and a usb port may come in handy.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Thanks, this is good information. Really changes my plan. I will stick with a 3 gallon portable tank. No fuel gauge, probably just a gps speedometer, tach, and maybe a voltmeter. I am planning to place my battery on the stem since my motor is so heavy.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Ok good to know. I read somewhere of someone saying they needed a 12 gallon for his squirt and made me concerned. I was hoping to have a fuel gauge on my dash and not sure how to safely install a sending unit on a small portable tank without compromising the tank. The aluminum tank I was looking int...

Re: Tucker's Squirt

I'm looking into getting a spun aluminum fuel tank for my squirt. Originally I was planning for a 6 gallon but now having second thoughts. For the design I'm looking at I can go up to 8.25 gallons. Do any of you find a 6 gallon is to small for a day out on the boat or would you go larger? I have a y...

Re: Squirt fun

That looks like a lot of fun! I'm building a squirt with a yamaha f20. Looks like you have the same motor. I'm trying to figure out what size gas tank I should get. I'm curious as to what size gas tank you use and how long you can stay out having fun.

Re: Tucker's Squirt

Thanks! In fact, I think I read through your blog a while back to learn about boat building. Very thorough blog which is really nice. I wish I could keep up with my blog I just prefer to spend all my extra time building!
