I have followed and referenced your beautiful build for 3 years and can not tell you how many times I have watched the YouTube videos.
Thank you.

Re: Building the Tuffy in Nova Scotia
I’m building a different boat - but by the same methods. How does your stem fit when temporarily attached? Does it line up with the frame AND the form? Sorry I can’t be much help - I’m leery giving out advice being a beginner myself. I have read other boat builders have contacted GlenL directly with...

Re: Maritime Malahini
Something clicked when I read what Neel said “don’t attach the bottom plywood until the battens are fair” - I had been trying to level the bottom by fairing the FRAMES. I’m not attaching to the frames - I’m attaching to the battens! I have now levelled my BATTENS from transom to stem and everything ...

Re: Maritime Malahini
I have an epoxy question (West System): Some of my bottom frames and battens appear to be uneven - due to excessive fairing and apparently issues when scarfing the longer battens together. To fix this - can I add 1/8 to 1/16 of thickened epoxy to the low areas before attaching the bottom panels? Is ...

Re: Maritime Malahini
Thanks for the encouragement guys. My wife won’t let me use any of her expensive blue painters tape! I have been using her baking parchment paper when I epoxy though. It was a hot day when I attached that middle panel and the butt blocks. I was afraid the epoxy would harden and was rushing and forgo...

Re: Dennis from Halifax, NS building the Tuffy
Looking good - those mahogany frames are beautiful I had problems levelling my building form on my uneven boatshop floor. The Malahini building form has legs at the back end that are the same angle as the transom - making it easy to hang. I just have to remember to unscrew the transom from the form ...

Re: Dennis from Halifax, NS building the Tuffy
Hi Dennis I’m building a Malahini. I used my table saw to cut some of my Chine block. I also attached the knee to my transom before hanging the transom on the building form. I assemble the pieces - even dry fitting them on the floor - to get a picture of the build in my head. Start posting pictures ...

Re: Dennis from Halifax, NS building the Tuffy
Hi Dennis I can help with the easy question first. I am getting all my wood from East Coast Specialty Hardwood in Burnside. It is a dangerous store - a guy could spend a lot of money in there. I am using white oak, but they do sell mahogany as well as marine plywood. I can get full 4/4 lengths of oa...

Re: Maritime Malahini
The boys and I finally started glueing and screwing a side panel today. Everything went great until we heard a loud CRACK! When we attached the plywood to the sheer it snapped the joint between the chine and frame 1!? Do any of you guys see a problem with me just screwing in another 2” screw above t...

Re: New member - NS Canada
Great to see another Maritimer building a Glen L boat. I’m slowly working on a Malahini and loving every minute spent in the boatshop.
