It's hard to beat epoxy.
I've used MAS before. But bear in mind if you don't varnish it will yellow on you. May or may not matter.

Re: Filling pin holes left by staple legs
Probably a filler before I started epoxying would have been the go but now I have a few layers on I am not sure that will work. Bill is probably right and I am stressing about nothing. Anyway I have a couple of layers of clear coat to go yet which could solve the problem. Yeah I'd say that ship has...

Re: Sanding Hell!
Questions: should I wet the wood to raise the grain and sand one more time? What is the best way to clean the dust off before staining? Bryan I would only purposefully raise the grain if I planned on using a water based finish. In my experience, oil based and solvent based finishes do not raise the...

I'm still in the learning phase
I'm curious about the choice of forgoing the fiberglass. I've built a couple stitch and glue kayaks and when the weave is filled the glass is virtually invisible.
Mind if I ask what motivated that decision?

Re: Roberta's Torpedo
Just wanted to add that while I am in the planning/ambitious dreaming phase. This thread is incredibly helpful in that it provides a lot of insight into the build process to force me to think about how best to deal with some of the complications of boatbuilding. This is such a detailed thread, it is...

You can send them a pattern and they will match it. Make notes on edges that need to be pencil polished.

Is pencil polishing that rounded over frosted look on safety glass?

Re: Thoughts on a Tahoe 23 Utility
Where does the design place the fuel tank? It's tough to pick a design without knowing some of the specifics of the plans. I totally understand why Glen-L can't post that info. Just don't want to drop 250 on some plans only to find out they're not suitable for my intentions. You can buy the "study ...

Ahh. That makes sense. Thanks.
Just went through your Facebook page. Your Tahoe is beautiful. I love the contrasting deck and was thinking along the same lines.

Re: Thoughts on a Tahoe 23 Utility
I think it's possible. I almost did it, but liked the wood deck too much. Now I just have to figure out how to walk on a baby grand piano to use the swim deck. I will say that you need to take into consideration your fuel tank size and shape. I was going with a Moeller 25 gallon, but it was too tal...
