Outboard vs Inboard with same hp on similar hull

Just based on cost and ease of maintenance etc I am looking at the 35 hp power range as the largest of the new V-twin aircooled engines as run in commercial riding mowers. I have zero experience building boats or boat drivetrains but from reading as much as I can about the Glen-L Tiny-Might and thei...

Re: Confusion about posting photos in forum messages ?

Bill- this isnt necessarily getting us anywhere but your unit of measure is mega-pixels and not megabytes and a much larger mega-pixel image can very easily be smaller in mega bytes. If you have a chance to communicate with the tech guys programming the forum, please ask how their forum software wor...

Re: Confusion about posting photos in forum messages ?

Bill- I understand what you are saying but I dont think so. What you are talking about is the number of pixels in the image such that a tic-tac-toe board has 9 pixels. This is nearly independent of file storage space required (governed by image file type and compression etc ) I also say that because...

Re: 1950 raceboat cousin to Tiny-Might

Here are some images of the Danbury racers from 1950 which were built from the Banshee plans. In the recent few years a dozen or so of the racers were taken from warehouse storage and auctioned and refurbished. They all are still using the 40hp (?) Crosley inboard engines. It looks to me like the Ti...

Re: Confusion about posting photos in forum messages ?

It sounds simple but the website forum software presents some inconsistencies. Somehow or for some reason, there is perhaps a limit on the number of photos that can be attached per message and it could depend on the cumulative file size of the photos.... just guessing. I just tried to post five imag...

Confusion about posting photos in forum messages ?

It has been about a decade since the cost of computer storage was a factor in deciding how to keep large quantities of photos so the photo-bucket advice is no longer relevant. I can see when posting that attachments are possible but I do not understand the "place photo inline" option and w...

1950 raceboat cousin to Tiny-Might

In 1950 there were some race boats built using Crosley engines of 40 hp and they were called the Danbury Racers. It is agreed that these boats were built as modifications of a boat called the Banshee which was made available in 1950 in one of the boat magazines. I have the magazine article and plans...

Re: Cheaper to build and run than Personal Watercraft

As I mentioned I would like to drop this engine setup ( but with a 35hp instead of 20hp) into
a 12' Glen-L Tiny-Mite What I cannot figure out is how to connect the crankshaft from the
air cooled industrial V-Twin to a 1 inch propeller shaft etc.

Cheaper to build and run than Personal Watercraft

I found some info on the net where in the N.E. they are building and racing what they call Crab Skiffs using 25HP Briggs & Stratton engines. These are usually two seaters and they look like they go pretty good and would be a lot of fun on flat water inland lakes. Also this type V-twin industrial...
