Re: Naming your boat, bad luck?

Ouch Matt! What a bummer!! Glad she's all fixed up now. Ok - I won't say what it is...for now. My mother (keep in mind I am closer to 40 than 30), shot down one name...it involved putting a leg lamp on the boat and she protested big time! The name I have picked is Christmas themed :D It su...

Naming your boat, bad luck?

Is it bad luck to name your boat before you've even ripped the first piece of ply? I have a name already that no one else has that I know of (per the USCG) and I'm pretty sure no one else would want it...

Re: Seeking Information & Assistance

Make sure whatever you decide to build can get out of the garage. That's probably more important than the build itself, otherwise, you're stuck with one heck of a conversation piece in the garage! There was a woman that decided to build an ultralight in her garage near me, it's never been off the gr...

Re: WARNING: 3M Blue tape and System 3 epoxy issue

What a bummer. I haven't worked with epoxy yet, do you think that Glad Press n' Seal or the automotive painter's tape would work better than blue tape? Blue tape and I broke up when I met Frog tape. Frog always worked better for me b/c blue seemed to mess everything up when I would finish furniture ...

Re: Seat modifications for neck problems

Yes, my father in law's boat has low seats (regular pontoon seats) and I always end up in pain from the seats.

Those are nice looking seats! Thanks for the pic. I could definitely build those on the cheap. I could even make a slot for my ponytail to slip through if I make them high enough.

Re: Seat modifications for neck problems

You're right - those are not cheap. Definitely out of my budget now. With a little engineering and imagination, I just might be able to figure something out...

Thanks!

Oh I definitely will! I'm sure I'll have loads of questions during the build.

Seat modifications for neck problems

I have a few pinched nerves in the C7 and C6 areas of my spine thanks to a few years of boxing, poor office chairs, and building furniture. I'm planning to build the Malahini and the seats look a little low for my neck. Does anyone else have back and neck problems and did you modify the seats so tha...

Re: Overwhelmed Newbie from Georgia

Thanks for the tip! I need to add them to my spreadsheet. Malahini seems to be a very popular boat, I hope that means that it's not beyond difficult. I don't expect it to be easy, but I don't want to wind up on the shop floor in the fetal position either! lol

Overwhelmed Newbie from Georgia

Hello there! New member from Georgia here. I'm just north of Atlanta. I've spent a good chunk of my life around boats, talking about boats, drooling over boats, hearing stories about my grandfather's boat company, and now I've decided to build a boat. This whole idea started with a mini version of a...
